A schoolboy from Cambridgeshire wears a skirt to school

www.bbc.co.uk

A Cambridgeshire boy has worn a skirt to school in a protest against what he said was "discrimination".

Chris Whitehead, 12, was angered by rules at Impington Village College, near Cambridge, that do not allow boys to wear shorts in hot weather.

The year-8 pupil said he researched the policy, found a loophole in the rules and turned up to school in a skirt.

PEACEFUL PROTEST at its utmost finest and best...

This young man should be so very proud of himself right now..
This is one in the eye for those who think they can control us through threats and intimidation...

The "do as we say" crowd are getting a good slap in the face from a 12 year old boy..

BRAVO!!!!!

This kid is going to either grow up a Lawyer, or politician, maybe even the next British PM.

Of course you realise that after the cameras had gone we was most likely dragged behind the sports hall and savagely beaten for being "a gayer"

That's the way of it in schools I'm afraid. always has been always will be.

and he won;t be the next PM, reason. He is too willing to stick his neck out for what he believes in. Most likely he will fade into obscurity like the rest of us. Sad though, but what if this is the defining moment of his life! the pinnacle of what he will achieve.

The "Andy Warhol" moment

It takes some courage to do that.. And I see nothing wrong with it..
Girls wear trousers and shorts, so why can't boys/men wear skirts?

I believe David Beckham did at one point.. nobody really laughed at him.. some might have giggled, but who cares!!!

This young man felt that he needed to make a point..and he did so in a most remarkable manner, and for that he deserves respect and a big handshake for standing up against his oppressors..

Yeah david beckham has worn sarong's, I liked this story good on the boy my mum told me about it earlier.

It annoys me that there's so many silly rules boy's not being able to wear shorts in hot weather is a joke, I mean aint that against health and safety or something I mean if it was boiling hot and the boys wearing trousers and they collapse from heat can they sue the school?.

It might be possible, should that happen, but then you'd be pretty sure the school would pass the blame back to the parents by not teaching their child to get a drink when thirsty, or by not supplying enough money to the child to purchase a drink from the school canteen etc..

I guess it would depend on the rest of the school rules, like no food or drinks in class, where the child collapsed etc.

Good on the kid, that's awesome.

Reminds me not only of the intense heat of summer 1998 when we were lucky to be allowed to remove ties and wear shorts but also of the non-school uniform day when myself and a few other guys wore skirts and dresses for a laugh/dare/bet.

Granted, this fella has more balls than most and if I could star and flag him for doing that, I would.

I thought all Scottish are pro-Gay. I mean it's in their culture isn't it? Just like Wayne Rooney with skirt while in a soccer training.

I just worry the boy might get butt-raped by other boy or guy soon.

Females can wear any type of clothing made and nobody ever calls them crossdressers or accuses them of being sexually deviant for it. Sometimes I see a boy and a girl couple walking down the street wearing the exact same pants, hoodie and sneakers. If the couple were both wearing the same skirt or dress it would cause a scene. Boys should be able to wear all the clothes made as well without discrimination. There is no excuse for it. Since girls where everything there is no longer girls clothes and boys clothes. Non-bifurcated garments are much more friendly to the male anatomy and for most of history males did not wear pants. Also to consider is that beauty and fashion is for some reason declared these days to be only the territory of girls. Men were the first to wear short skirts, tights, even high heels. Check out King Louise XIV. All that has been taken away from men and any man who dares partake in fashion freedom is called a fag, or a tranny or a transvestite etc. It's disgusting that people behave this way. Yet, men bring it on each other most of the time. It is far past time for everyone to wear what they want and what feels good without discrimination. Furthermore, yes there are transvestites who get a thrill from doing something that society says they shouldn't, or from trying to pass as the opposite sex. Yet wearing whatever clothes you want doesn't mean you are trying to do something taboo for the sake of it. I see guys wearing skirts, even dresses in my area somewhat regularly. They look just fine in them, and it's not like they are wearing stuffed bras and pretending to be the opposite sex. Although, who cares if they did, really? Plenty of girls wear very unflattering clothes and have messy boyish haircuts and nobody gives a care. I wonder when western culture will get over its infantile hangups. It's just fabric after all! Does it really screw up other people's lives whatever a person decides to wear? Pants make a lot more sense for girls anyway, as girls don't have anything between their legs for a seam to be jammed into. I guess that wearing anything that people associate with girls is demeaning to men because being female is somehow a demeaning thing. Guys spend all their time chasing after girls yet use female characteristics and body parts as the greatest pejoratives against other guys, as if females are trash.
