Is ATS censoring??

Hopefully I don't offend anyone, but one of my threads got trashed because I reported something from the Las Vegas Review Journal.

I also found a post earlier about BO's BC from the Aloha Reporter. When I clicked on it, it was gone.

Just wondering why some reports can be reported, while others can't? Is ATS censoring, or is there an explanation?

You must give more details about your trashed threads ..personally i think ATS is more free then USA alone

Of course ATS censors. Profanity and plagiarism, mostly. Sometimes posting in the wrong forum can get the ATS team involved, usually just by moving the thread, though.

I've never seen anything censored on here for it's content, as if it were a conspiracy to share information - if that's what you're assuming.

Theres some bad calls being made...it happens, mods are human..however, its best to either u2u the mod directly about what happened to your thread, or at least put these type threads into the business board section for a general understanding.

Did the Mods not send you a message explaining why your thread got removed? I had mine removed and it took me awhile to figure out that I was getting messages (under Tools) explaining why it was removed.

I believe they are just protecting there 'label' or product most of the time.

I wouldn't think too much of this there are certain standards they try to adhere to that make no sense to us but are necessary for continuation of the company.

Ahh... so that's where that thread went!

I was confused... I was like, "I'm sure I replied to that thread about the DMV... but it's gone!"

Although, I'm also sure that ATS had a good reason to delete it despite the fact that I have no idea what it could be.

If I am not mistaken I think that was the group that Sued ATS for "posting links to their website" or something like that. It happened a while back so this may actually be the reason why it was deleted. Legal issues, not anything to do with the subject reported.

Try finding another source and go for it again.

I do think the mods should have notified you and explained the issue with that particular source and why legally they need to cover themselves. Discussion of court issues is a touchy topic, so I will allow someone who actually knows the facts to explain it for you.

Hopefully they will come clear this discrepancy up.

I do not think ATS is censoring any "important info", but they do censor some things. Extremely bad behavior and lewd language for example. But that has nothing to do with a debate over specific facts or whatever.

Also there are a few links that are banned due to the previous lawsuit issues I mentioned.

ATS is pretty liberal for the most part, however, it does seem lately that a lot more threads and posts are being removed for whatever reasons. Does this mean they are censoring, I don't know. Seems to be one mod in particular who rules the place with an iron fist.

This post will probably be removed for me speaking out about a mod.

Yeah, check your U2U message center.

It can be found under "Tools" ----> "Messages".

If you don't have one, write a mod and ask what happened.

Strange, check your u2u. Under tools+ messages, or go into any thread and click "messages" on the small almost invisible tool bar at the bottom that only appears for like 4 seconds then disappears until you open another thread.

Mods always notify you of what they are doing

Over the last few days, I've watched a few good threads just disappear, but I can't see why.

The link didn't work properly for me.

I seriously doubt ATS is censoring anything related to the Obama BC issues.

If it is proven a hoax 100 times on 100 threads maybe they would close the thread down though. I wouldn't be surprised about that. We have covered that issue so deeply the pressure is crushing our submersibles.

You didn't mention any names so you should be fine.

I would highly suggest you utilize the "Complaints" feature and bring the topic up so that all mods and the admins can see your concerns and debate the issue amongst themselves.

The mods and admins hate it here if someone abuses their power wrongly, and they will take action and rectify the situation. I have seen them clean house before several times, so just bring up the issue in the complaints feature.

I did get a message and it says "we do not allow linking to Las Vegas Review Journal articles...at all. "
