13 killed in clash at US/Mexico border

Twelve suspected members of the Zetas drug gang and a member of Mexico's Navy were killed in a shootout on an island in a lake that straddles the U.S.-Mexico border, authorities said Monday.

The Mexican Navy said the shootout occurred Sunday on Falcon Lake, located between Texas and the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, after troops patrolling the area spotted a camping area on an island.

Just wow, I love the mexican people most are great, and really some of our own American citizens help fuel this violence with their excessive drug use and stupid prohibition on true freedom. We have been stuck in an endless drug war, creating incredible profits so drug lords now have military style forces and a defense budget better than most mid eastern countries. Now the violence is creeping north, what will happen when that drug cartel violence meets Americas street gangs and we have the same thing happen here. What's the number 30,000 people killed down there? The Mexican gov declared full war on the cartels, the media down there is scared to report. we need to help our neighbors in the south clean up the neighborhood, before the continents property value drops.

The best way to deal with the situation is to repeal all anti drug laws world wide... TPTB are the big winners profiting from what happens in the distribution of the contraband drugs and weapons used by both sides of law and borders.

The scary thing is, ive hung out at Falcon Lake due to my husband working there a couple of weeks. then not to much time passes , and a husband and wife are shot at by the drug gang cause they jet skied to close to thier side of the border. the husband was shot and killed, body never found. this hits home here. If you go to zapata tx ( our side of falcon lake) the population is dirt poor, but there are a few mansion like homes scattered to through the area. makes you wonder whos living in there.heres some info on the previous story.

That's only if you want to actually curtail murders, violence, etc.

Our leaders obviously don't really want to do that. They'd rather keep all these drugs 100% illegal, forcing them to be more valuable than gold by weight.


So really all the law enforcement and drug gangs and etc. are all getting what they want, obviously. Just let them all kill each other if they have to. That's maybe the quickest way of learning after all.

Cause the cartel has better guns than our National guard... plus I assume they think it was open another front too close too home for the gov to handle the blow back

That is the same place that the American couple was attacked and he was killed a few months ago. At that time the Mexican authorities tried to deny all of it. The news media and some people in general accused her of making it up and some even accused her of killing him. It was bad enough to lose your husband in such a terrible manner then being a victim of a crime and rediculed.

Mexico makes Iraq look like the suburbs. Its almost unreal how much the cartels run the entire operation.

My wife and I used to cross the border into Matamoros when we would go to South Padre Island and I enjoyed it a lot just hanging out, eating and shopping... We went to the crappy little casino in Eagle Pass almost 5 years years ago and left there driving along the US side of the border deciding to park in Laredo and cross into Laredo Del Norte.. We were pretty deep into the market area when I suddenly felt an unexplained uneasiness and noticed I was being looked at and sized up from head to toe...It must have been about the time that it was becoming dangerous to be down there because It dawned on me that I was the only gringo that I had seen since crossing over... I couldn't believe how many times I had been approached with offers of any and every kind of illegal substances I ever heard of and even Cuban cigars... I got a bull whip for my neighbor's grandson, some bracelets for his sister, a mess of cool T shirts and the hell back across the Rio Grande.

All the while Janet Incompetano reminds us that the border is safer now than ever !

There is more enforcement people on our side of the border than there has been since Black Jack Pershing was down there in 1916 chasing around after Pancho Villa... I really loved going to Baghdad Beach and Matamoros but Juarez and Laredo never were pleasurable to go to... Tejuana sucks too.
