I was browsing the latest Lasco C3 images on the SOHO site and noticed a few images that seem to be almost identical but stamped with 2 different
times.
The first set of 2 pics (side by side, 14:42 and 15:23) are exact duplicates even though they have different time stamps. But the lower set of 2 is
curious...the left image (16:42) shows something streaking in the far right of the image (3:00 position) and a noticable "star" at the lower end of
the streak. The beginning of a CME coming out the top of the sun is visible. The right image (17.44) shows an identical streak at the 3:00 position,
along with the noticable "star" at the lower end of the streak. But then there's a much larger streak between the sun and the first streak. The CME
seems to have progressed also and the visible stars in the bottom half of the image have also changed position. How is it possible for an asteroid or
meteor to remain in the exact same position for 58 minutes? I think someone's editing the images...
