Although there appears to be some room for debate over the burial -- as with many issues within the faith -- a wide range of senior Islamic scholars interpreted it as a humiliating disregard for the standard Muslim practice of placing the body in a grave with the head pointed toward the holy city of Mecca.

Sea burials can be allowed, they said, but only in special cases where the death occurred aboard a ship.

Bin Laden's burial at sea "runs contrary to the principles of Islamic laws, religious values and humanitarian customs," said Sheik Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand Imam of Cairo's al-Azhar mosque, Sunni Islam's highest seat of learning.

A radical cleric in Lebanon, Omar Bakri Mohammed, said, "The Americans want to humiliate Muslims through this burial, and I don't think this is in the interest of the U.S. administration."

A photo taken by a local resident shows the wreckage of a helicopter next to the wall of the compound where, according to officials, Osama bin Laden was shot and killed in a firefight with U.S. forces in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Bin Laden, the glowering mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks that killed thousands of Americans, was slain in his luxury hideout in Pakistan early Monday. (AP/Mohammad Zubair)

Who cares what the Islamic scholars think! Osama was not real religious in the way he went about his business when he was fighting the Russians and US. For someone who was supposed to be religious he sure as hell did not act that way with all the violence he started!

There is no way a shrine on land for him would be created so he can be made into a martyr. He was a disgusting pig who gave up all rights when he authorised the killing of thousands of people and terrorised millions more worldwide!

I did not use caps so therefore I was not shouting!

I discussed how a burial at sea was out of the question and why it was out of the question!

I will participate in whatever threads I want.

Remember you picked me!

This is a man who hated the West.

Who gives a carp how we disposed of the body!

Did he call for proper religious burrials of the 3,000 people he killed in New York?

the burial at sea was to make sure that noone could identify the body.

in accordance to islamic traditions was bs.

those are the facts.

they covered their tracks to make sure no one could question it.

He got more of a burial than he deserved.... I really don't care if it "offends" Muslims. If we would have left his body there, it would have created far more problems than us disposing of it. It's not like the man was a devout Muslim, he was responsible for tons of Muslim deaths in Iraq and elsewhere and many innocent lives. He will have some explaining to do to Allah.

That is exactly the reason I like this thread. Obama and the gang said it was to follow Muslim procedures, but the Muslims are saying it's BS.

Fantastic!

Exactly, yourself and others can see my point here that it isn't about "offending anyone". Its about the coverup that took place.

So with all the Islamic people condemning Bin Laden's "murder" and burial... they are basically saying yes he was Islamic and we supported him and his activities? Shouldn't they be saying who cares that dude was a fake Muslim anyway?

Islamic scholars probably didn't like the "double tap" procedure that killed OBL in the first place.

There was no other option of burial.

I'm more than sure that OBL's body was prepared so that it won't wash up or float to the surface.
Its all a lie anyway so any concerns about his body showing up here or there is a waste of time.

The intended topic here is stated above. I figured some of the more intelligent members would have picked up on this as some have. However, some have not according to the posts herein. So please keep on this topic and do not sidestep with any concerns about "who cares if...." comments because again, its not the topic of this thread.
