Before dawn Saturday, warplanes hit beachfront government buildings in Tripoli. Libyan officials alleged the strike was meant to kill Gadhafi as he spoke live on state TV, but the broadcast building was not damaged and Gadhafi spoke from an undisclosed location.
The strikes badly damaged a two-story building that Libyan officials said housed several welfare and human rights organizations. A school for children with Down syndrome and the offices of parliamentary staff were also damaged.
NATO said the target was a command-and-control center. A TV transmission tower and a large cell phone antenna stood nearby, and a third strike gouged a crater just 50 meters (50 yards) from the TV building. Foreign diplomats and local church leaders inspected the airstrike damage in a government-escorted tour. "Bombing is not a solution," said Bishop Giovanni Martinelli, the senior Catholic clergyman in Tripoli, adding that he was giving his personal view.
In a rambling pre-dawn speech, Gadhafi said "the door to peace is open." "You are the aggressors. We will negotiate with you. Come, France, Italy, U.K., America, come to negotiate with us. Why are you attacking us?" he asked.
A rebel spokesman, Jalal al-Galal, called the cease-fire offer a publicity stunt. "We don't believe that there is a solution that includes him or any member of his family. So it is well past any discussions. The only solution is for him to depart," he said.
"The regime has announced cease-fires several times before and continued attacking cities and civilians," the official said. "All this has to stop, and it has to stop now," the official said.
-The school was not severely damaged, rather a single office was destroyed "...The missile completely destroyed an adjoining office in the compound that houses the government's commission for children...
NATO air strike hits Libya disabled children school Shattered glass litters the carpet at the Libyan Down's Syndrome Society, and dust covers pictures of grinning children that adorn the hallway, thrown into darkness by a NATO strike early on Saturday.
What if they had gotten Kadaffi? Isn't hitting the school a risk worth taking? Would you have risked the lives of 30 children with autism for a chance to prevent countless more deaths, or would you have aborted the operation? Just curious..

No kids being killed dosen't take away from the fact that NATO targete a school for the disabled. NATO's mission is suppose to be humanitarian, they are suppose to protect civilians. How does the fact that there were no children killed substitute away from the fact that
a) Gadaffi has been targeted for assasination
b) Civilians have been killed as a result of NATO attacks
c) Civilian infastructure has been destroyed as a result of NATO attacks
and
d) Rebel soldiers have been killed in incidents of freindly fire by NATO forces
What I find even more regrettable is that there are enough crazy people who are agreed with them and give them star . this world is pathetic ...

No. AFAIK, assassinating foreign leaders is against your (American) law. Quite aside from the fact that it's immoral.

Prevent countless more deaths, how? I suppose you are one of the drones who believes whatever the MSM tells him, and believes Ghaddafi is the new Saddam/Hitler/Napoleon whatever...
The answer is absolutely not! Killing children can never be right, even if they do have a disability and therefore in the eyes of many (obviously not all!) are 'useless eaters'.. What if one of those children was your child? Would you shrug at her death, because it maybe would have helped the world's policeman kill a bad guy?
How revoltingly disgustingly amoral your post is!
