Westboro Baptist Church Coming to MY Old School

Greetings everyone- I know a lot of you have heard of the Westboro Baptist Church and their whole "God Hates Fags" campaign and protesting at military funerals. Well, it seems they're going to be coming to my alma mater (Hilliard Darby High School) on May 10th.

I have no clue why they're going to be there, but it is pretty hilarious. We plan to have a HUGE amount of people there to protest them. Me and a lot of my friends want to oil ourselves up and dance around in thongs while they're protesting lol...

I started this thread to get some ideas on what else we should do while they're here.

The best thing to do is find out where they are staying the night before and let their tyres down.

If they manage to get anyone to your school, do not show any anger. Ignore everything they say and do. They are attention seeking, self publicising non christians.

Block their access like they did in MS, anything to slow them down or being a nuisance would work, heckle them, everybody skip out on their speech.

Also, I would like to point out something else that I am not sure if anyone has noticed.

Going to their site, up on the address bar where the site icon appears you will see an American flag. But look closer, it is flying upside down and is bad form to present our flag that way. There is a specific time when it is to be flown upside down and for their purpose, it is wrong.

This could be used against them in some form or another if one was so inclined, not exactly sure of the legality

Flag Etiquette

Is it okay to display the flag upside down to protest the direction of government, the economy, the war, high crime rates, your bar's liquor license, etc.?

It seems these hate-mongers show up at the most annoying times. But the best thing to do is to ignore them as much as possible and to have fun with it! I like the dancing idea, you should also try singing songs, having noise makers and just generally have a good time. The less you let them ruin your day, the more they fail at their agenda. Dont give them ANY unnecessary attention, this is exactly what they feed on. Dont pick fights or call back to them, and dont respond to personal slights. They WANT someone to do something so they can sue sue sue!

I would maybe get a boom-box and play the most ridiculously inappropriate (funny not offensive) songs.

I wouldn't mind giving them media attention as long as it's footage of them getting their a##es handed to them. I think it would be worth the jail time. But that's just me. I don't recommend anyone else doing that.

Drown out their noise. Noise makers, airhorns, anything legal... Maybe sing songs about peace and love and equality very loudly to coverup the noise from their protest.

Maybe see what you can do about convincing everyone to simply not show up that day... ( if a racist squeaks and no one is there to hear it...does it still make a sound) If no one is there to hear or see their protest.... Well, then they have done nothing but waste their time.

Do NOT do anything to stoop to their level. Do not fight or argue with them. Do not throw things or anything else that will get you in trouble... Let THEM make idiots out of themselves. Not the other way around.

Perhaps a counter protest that involves wearing ear muffs and a blind fold... Everyone just stands their and ignores them... Sort of a play on the "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil", thing. Have every ones backed turned to them.

If anyone wants to make signs for your counter protest, this link has some great ones that people used at WBC counter protests.... Pretty funny ones.

If there are any gay couples there, Maybe consider asking if they are willing to kiss some infront of the WBC?

Just a few ideas anyway.

I think I'm going to dress up as a Muslim and make a sign that says "Allah Hates Westboro Baptist Church" lol... that was a good one I thought of.. I have been at work all day which is why I wasn't able to respond to the thread till just now.. I can't wait, it should be interesting
