How that scene in IHOP should have ended.

Holy crap, look everyone it's a people with BALLS!
Everyone should learn from this.

Exhibit A watch the cops GTFO when people come rushing in, my day has officially been made.
What is funny here is that from posts someone may think I have a beef with police. I worked with them closely in my former job, at both the Sheriffs Dept, and when I worked as an executive protection specialist. My brother is a cop for petes sake, but he knows his damn place.

I am not, nor have ever excused or provided justification for blatant cases of police brutality or corruption.

The police that defy the public trust and engage in this kind of behavior should be punished more harshly than the citizens they police. Why? Because they defy the public trust.

If a video was posted of a police officer BLATANTLY using excessive force or engaging in corruption, I would be the first to condemn them.

Posting another video, that is completely different than the one depicted in the OP, is yet another attempt to draw the attention away from the fact of the matter.

THIS scenario is not as clear cut as you make it out to be. You fill in the missing pieces of information with your own facts and then present it as the full story.

Although yes, the second video is a video where they appear to be blatantly striking the guy in the ribs when they have him on the ground already. The second they could put the cuffs on him and take him away it should have been done. The crowd only got angry after they had the chance to take him away in custody but did not and began to strike him with the baton.

C'mon, it's only excessive force if it is against a minority....then there would be marches, rallies and we'd have the racist talking head twins on tv for few weeks. s it is, the cop is a pos with low self worth and probably treats the females in his life in the same manner..............

Just to provide a reference, here is another post on the same topic.

I am not the only person that thinks she was pulling on the officer's shoulder.

Second post on same subject

Maybe I was just raised that you did not hit people you could restrain in other ways. People smaller than you who pose no immediate danger to you. Two grown men do not need to be slapping and hitting a woman. Because, two grown men can subdue the woman in other ways that do not involve punching her in the face.

There is no justification for what he did. Period. He was in no danger from her or any of them. He did it because he has power issues. How do I know this? Because no normal person open hand slaps someone for having their hand on your shoulder or arm. And her little slap attack on him did not justify a solid punch to the face, either. He was power tripping, and he should not get away with it.

The fact that she is a woman makes the who thing even more ridiculous, but in truth, he wouldnt even be justified open hand slapping a man across the face for that level of contact. And, he probably would not have. People who beat people smaller and less able than themselves are scum. Cop or no cop. This guy is not scum because he is a cop, he is scum because he is scum, and the fact that he is a cop makes me despise him more. He is a disgrace to all the good cops out there.

I dont care if 600 people thought the guy was right. What argumentative fallacy is that? "Appeal to popular opinion?"

Im not a sheep, and the fact that there is a herd gathering doesnt mean much to me.

And here you go, another more in depth view of Officer Unfriendly assaulting women. From a different angle. And it clearly shows who the aggressor is.

Its nice that you think her putting her hand on his shoulder gives him the right to beat the hell out of her. 1st being an officer and these 2 ladies obviously dressed for a club and in an i hop at 4 am is a clue there probably drunk. And as an officer that was not an appropriate way to handle the situation and ill predict that on review the police force will agree. And to be honest if i was there i probably would have hit him back even harder it be worth the arrest the scumbag deserves to be shown what it feels like. By the way that girl impressed me she took a right hook and stayed standing thats a tough girl and i hope she sues the crap out of that officer gets a nice award and that idiot has to pay for years to come.

First of all let me mention. The way cops are trained--at least the ones I've worked with on a regular basis--is typically when dealing with a woman; if she wants to act like a man you treat her like one. That's the rule of thumb. She puts her hands on you, shoves you, grabs you, pulls on you? The kid gloves have to come off.

Now...

...Am I saying the cop in the video was right in what he did? Not necessarily.

First I need to know; did the cops have legitimate purpose for kicking those women out of IHOP? I don't know. I wasn't there.

(I read somewhere that those cops were pulling security for the IHOP.)

Assuming they did. They probably received orders from the management to get rid of them for a variety of reasons. Those reasons could range from "they were drunk and IHOP management doesn't want drunk people in there" (because someone mentioned they looked like they had just come out of a nightclub; which they kinda do to be honest) or "they were just ordering water and management didn't want people who only ordered water".

Me personally if I was in a similar situation and somebody put their hand on me like that as I'm trying to detain them (man or woman, doesn't matter), depending on how hard they pull on me; I would've grabbed their hand and twisted enough to where it'll almost break and then judo-flip them. Either that or just slap their hand away or karate chop their arm or possibly hit their arm with my flashlight.

Thank you for being a voice of reason ITT. I saw this video for the first time today and was BEYOND disgusted. I am normally a police "apologist" and try to give them the benefit of the doubt in most cases but this was atrocious no matter how you look at it. Virtually everything you have said in this thread is dead on.

Even more despicable is the few that were laughing at the event. I was really depressed over this thing until I read your responses. Has the whole world gone crazy when people can possibly think that this behavior is acceptable?

This view of the incident only lends credibility to what I was saying in the first place.

Although it is not explained why, the officer is clearly trying to arrest the first woman. He has his cuffs out and is trying to put them on her. She is clearly not cooperating.

There is another woman, who was not seen in the first video, sitting next to the woman he is trying to arrest. It appears this woman is caught in the middle of it and appears to be suffering from the commotion.

It appears the woman, who is eventually struck and arrested may be trying to help this previously unseen woman. Instead of letting her friend out of the booth, she instead trys to pull on the officer while he is attempting to arrest the first woman. What she should have done is attempt to pull her friend out of the booth and away from the situation.

And when the guy asked "what did she do?" and the other guy said "nothing," they were most likely referring to the first woman he was trying to arrest. Which has no bearing on why the girl was struck.

This video shows it even better. Yes, she has her hand on the offficer's shoulder at first, but as soon as she grabs and pulls, she is struck. Plain and simple.

Lesson to the story. If the police are trying to arrest someone else, do not grab and pull on the officer. You will be mixed up in the situation.

I am merely providing a frame of reference. It is not a fact that she was not grabbing on him, it is merely your opinion.

She started the physical altercation when she put her hand on the officer, grabbed and pulled.

If, after she was tackled, the beating continued then I would say yes the officer is completely out of line. He is clearly meeting her use of force with his use of force.

The fault should be placed on either her friend, for resisting arrest in the first place and starting the incident, or the second officer for not recognizing the woman was getting involved and stopping her before it came to this.

They were off-duty police pulling security for the IHOP. That's what I read somewhere.
