So a kid where's a type of shoe that is not the "norm". Other kids pick on him for stepping outside the "norm". For his safety he is forced to comply with the "norm".

No wonder Americans have forgotten what it is to be free. We have no problem with our kids being indoctrinated into compliance in their formative years, thus they have no clue about freedom when they become adults.
