Anthrax: Did the Soviets Cover up an accident in Sverdlovsk?

In October 1979, scattered reports began emerging from newspapers with ties towards Soviet defectors that a germ warfare accident had occured in the city of Sverdlovsk. A military quarentine was instituted. The link below is to a declassified CIA and DIA analysis of the incident. The death toll varied from 40-300.

This last one is my favorite. Its a DIA analysis that talks about how the Antrax has morphed into a gas explosion that kill 100, and that there was an outbreak of venerial disease and "Siberian Antrax" Plus an anlysis of all the buildings in the city and a memory scketch of the city.

Its interesting to see the coverup and intersting to see how the CIA collects and anlyzes data.

Yeah. In the socialist workers' paradise the 2nd shift team cleaned the air filters over the spore drying area and forgot to replace them. Then the 3rd shift came on and resumed production. Spores got spread all over the place. Big #ing mess and government supressed all the info about it but it happened.

I think I saw an article in History Channel about this. It said that the President of Russia accepted the cover up of the anthrax accident in his address. I am not sure if this is the same one.
