Your message is both badly timed and ironic. There was a time where a kid could go to the corner pharmacy and buy their mom some heroin. During that
time, there were not thousands of people dying in a drug war, but there were the exact same percentage of people with severe addition problems to
drugs. Look up the facts.
The irony is in the fact that alcohol is a hard drug nearly as or possibly just as bad as coc aine and heroin in terms of long-term health
effects. Where are all the people (like you?) clamoring to return to its prohibition? There are times when the solutions to problems are already right
in front of our face and yet ignored completely. During the early 1900's there were a few people abusing alcohol, so they tried making it against
federal law to make the stuff. Then, a decade or two later crime begun to run rampant. Nasty gang violence started spreading like wildfire. SOUND
FAMILIAR? Then, the alcohol ban was repealed. And finally the gang problem subsided and the violent deaths came to a standstill.
Several decades later, prohibition returned. This time they didn't bother to create an amendment prohibiting it since they knew people like you would
support them totally ignoring the constitution as if it were nothing more than toilet paper. And several decades later, as if like clockwork almost,
the gang problem returned just like could easily be predicted, drug use continued in equal or greater numbers, just like could easily be predicted,
and the amazingly wrong people exclaiming how insane it would be to end prohibition UNpredictably returned. That wasn't predictable, since you would
hope people would learn from history even if they can't learn from moral reasoning and the basic principles of liberty. Predictably, prohibition will
end when the gang problem gets out of control, which is right about where we are at today. And predictably, the violence will go away without any
increase on the number of drug addicts (just as there was no decrease when prohibition started!)
There will be a time when people realize that people's own body should be their own choice. Until then, there will be authoritarians shoving their
opinions down other people's throat.
Heroin is legal by the way... with the correct government permission slip. Put your actions where your mouth is if you are so sure of your incorrect
belief and work towards taking away those permission slips. No?
