What would it be to live in a world free of judgment..... fear, greed and envy.

I can't tell you what that world would be like .... but I can show you :

Such a man is my hero, ... the sheer look of satisfaction on his face brings a tear of joy to my eye.

Yet if you saw him out in public.... You'd yell " Blimey" to all your mates and Outface him....... why ?

Because he looks funny, ... is trying something different or new ?? This guy gots it all figured out, ... but he doesn't have to talk about it..... he just has to rollerskate down the street while being powered by a fan between his legs.

Imagine if we could all live in such a fashion ?? .... what would the world look like if we werent such Ptilocercus tending to our Wet tails ???

Riddle me this .....

For my friend, Lexy.

Whoa...had that idea ever entered into my childhood brain...I don't think I'd have survived to be typing this today.

Car won't start? No problem, I'll take the weed-whacker to work. Hell yeah!

I sure wish I could give you 20 stars and shake your hand.

This guy is also my hero! To be able to rid yourself of that pesky ego is to me the ultimate accomplishment and the best way to find real happiness in this world.

Revolver is an excellent movie on the subject and frankly better than many esoteric books I've read on this. Too bad it wasn't more popular.

Either way your OP was fantastic, concise, clear, devoid of excess words that people will ignore anyway.

Edit to add, I was literally just about to start typing up a long drawn out post on the Ego because it came up in several threads but there is no way I can top this.

Problems from our ego stem much further then how we judge others. That is merely the first step....

To be able to completely suppress your desire and addictions is a much more treacherous demon to face.

Because we judge others based on how we perceive ourselves - that's the essence of all our "issues". And I agree, a very big demon to tackle.

I don't believe all desire comes from the ego... addiction yes, desire no.

Exactly what I was thinking. Also that I might have to try that now, as an adult. The OP is not so much about lack of ego as it is about lack of giving a flying (almost literally) f**k about what other people think and being happy whatever you are doing and whatever other people think. I'd post a few pictures of some really fat, happy nudists that I have met over time to make the same point but it wouldn't be as freaking funny as the OP and might get me a posting ban.

Indeed Daniel-san, ... for the world is simply ourselves, .... projected.

I think it has much less to do with ego than it does having a little empathy.

I wouldn't turn to my mates and belittle him. That's just not me and anyone around me who did that would be very quickly be told to shut the f up.

Unfortunately not everyone is like that so going down the street with that attached to you is going to bring out the village idiots.

True that... but I think release, transcend or dissolve is a better way to describe it than suppress.

In spiritual contexts the word ego can be used to describe anything that think in terms of "I", separate from the rest, where there is self and other-self, me and them, there is still ego. Only in oneness is your ego dissolved. You don't have an ego, you are an ego.

Was just chatting the other day about fixing up a strimmer/whacker to use as an outboard motor in an old canoe we have.

Or we could go spend 200 on an outboard and be boring.

Necessity is the mother of invention.....coooool.

I have recently been mediating on the subject of interacting with others and losing the ego. My goal was to adjust my paradigm to help me maintain mindfulness while dealing with the everyday world.

As I began to mediate I visualized all other people as one person with different facets. As I stand behind the counter at work and I go about my day I am only dealing with one person, or hundreds of copies of the same person. The energy of their existence is the same energy so they are all one.

This was me searching for a way to maintain my composure and compassion with all people I interact with. With this perspective there were only two people in the Universe, Me and billions of this other guy.

As I continued meditating the "All are one" concept kept bringing it self out. So all are one, that means that I am not seeing a Universe with me and billions of this other guy, there is just me. Me and billions of other me's running all over the Universe.

I have even take it a step further and as I talk to people I try to visualize me standing there, with my face, characteristics, etc, and I think how would I react to myself, not John, Suzie, stranger, boss, whatever.

How patient would I be if I it was ME standing at the counter confused, holding up the line, on my cell phone. Would I get angry and frustrated or would I calmly confront myself and patiently seek to help me.

How helpful would I be if I had to get up after dinner and go do the dishes. Would I just sit there and surf ATS or would I think that I would want some help? Of course I would want help cleaning up dinner and I would appreciate myself for doing it.

When a subordinate at work makes a critical error (or a small one) how would I treat myself as compared to how I would treat John Employee. Well, I would want to treat myself respectfully, solve why I made a mistake and set myself up for success next time. I wouldn't want to yell at me as I may want to yell at John Employee.

When I am with a bunch of strangers I do not imagine them all naked to help me relax, I imagine them all as me. I can tell a joke to myself and not be nervous. I am sure a room full of me's would love to hear me speak and I can be comfortable while speaking because I am speaking to myself.

So now my meditations have taken me to visualizing what I call the "Lonely Universe. Not lonely emotionally, but lonely for their is only one person in the Universe and we are all that person.
