An Arizona sheriff says he has been flooded with calls and emails of support from local and federal agents who back his claims that the U.S. Border Patrol has effectively ordered them to stop apprehending illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexican border.
“Upper management has advised supervisors to have agents ‘turn back South’ (TBS) the illegal aliens (aka bodies) they detect attempting to unlawfully enter the country … at times you even hear supervisors order the agents over the radio to 'TBS' the aliens instead of catching them,” one San Diego border agent wrote in an ema

In a way to me, this makes sense. Why arrest them then jam up our system with more people who will only end up being sent back to Mexico while the tax payers pay for their time while in custody. The "turn back south" order makes a heck of a lot more sense then the US housing the illegals and giving them free meals, free medicine, medical care etc. I believe Fox should be celebrating this news rather than presenting it in the context of more policy failure on the southern border. This TBS policy makes more sense to me then what Agents have been doing.

Its a useless battle anyway.
They can turn back the everyday migrant trying to run across but with standing orders to not intercept smugglers due to being outgunned and outnumbered it's only a matter of time before everybody and anybody coming North just uses force.
The whole thing is operated in such a way that sets up auto-fail across the board.
Why they bother to put peoples lives at risk and waste millions on accomplishing nothing at all is beyond me but par for the course as government goes.

In Malaysia illegal immigrants get a mandatory one stroke of the rattan and are then sent back..
Maybe a bit harsh but it obviously works better than the US idea..
I saw an episode of "Border Wars" on Natgeo yesterday and turning them back is exactly what they did. The text on the screen said something like "These people turned around and voluntarily returned to Mexico". What I don't understand is, what will stop them from walking half a mile down the Rio Grande and just crossing in a different spot, and repeat until they don't get caught?

Good point. I don't know that the rattan is the best deterrent, but there needs to be some kind of deterrent or nothing will stop them from just trying over and over again until they don't get caught, like you said.

But then what's to stop them trying to get back across the border the next day, or the one after until they finally make it??
