I think most presidential runners start out with good intentions. Yet get corrupted when getting into power.

So, an average citizen will most probably follow in those same footsteps, and fall into the power and money game, thus becoming corrupt and like all the rest that was before him.

So the answer to your question is, i would not vote for him.

I don't think that the majority of politicians start out corrupt but they do, more often than not, end up that way. Would be the same way with your "every day citizen".

Power corrupts.

power does corrupt... but i mean someone that really has a more important need to improve everything for the good of there family and fellow man... someone that has a family that isn't rich or well set but a family that lives the same hardships as every other person.... they may get into office but there family doesn't make money off of it... so i think the focus for improvement would more important

i feel that would be great the world would be a better place, for a while then greed would take over and we'd all be back to square one. The goverments arent created by normal citizens, the 'elite' organised the systems we all live under world wide. giving us a choice of two or three of their puppets still makes voting pointless, your voting for them either way. even when they throw votes and dead people still VOTE.

^^^^ how many places or states do you think this happens in??

if a common joe spoke out he'd be deemed a terrorist and locked up

regular citizens run for president. since they are not multi-millionaires connected to multi-millionaire friends & family, i'm guessing 97% of the voting public never hear their names or point of view.

the whole game is beyond rigged. the whole process is a huge money pit kept alive by TPTB who benefit greatly as their media machine trots out the presidential election dog & pony show every four years for the world to witness. it pacifies those who don't even bother to learn the truth. it inspires millions of foreigners to pursue the B.S. amerikan dream. works well too, as millions trek to make the usa their new home year after year, providing a nice addition to the slave labor pool TPTB counts on to do the dirty work.

I agree that power corrupts but I would still give the average joe a chance and vote for him/her.
We've been through the politician and their politics. I want something new, I'm tired of all the bs and change doesn't happen over night but it certainly wont happen if we don't put it out there. America was and is built on the backs of the hard working people. We may not be financially set as the elite but we do out number them and if we don't unite to change the current orders then were enabling this system.

You must be dreaming. The "average American citizen" has no way of knowing and never would "know how things really is (sic)."

JThat like taking a passenger from economy class, sitting him down in the pilot's seat of a 747 and saying, "OK. She's all yours. Now, get us to Cleveland on time."

It is an insiders game from start to finish.

Ignorance is no excuse........ Yeah we may not know the "ins" but who's fault is that, no you can't leap blindly but you can charge forward.........

The op asked what would you do...... you can't grip about the powers that be and how the situation is and then put down an average joe vote based on ignorance. I didn't say the average joe would be ignorant. Will he know everything no but like a lot of people in the world who are tired of sitting passenger. They are looking, searching, finding answers, resolutions and are fighting back.

Don't forget money being involved in corruption also. When the puppet master offer millions of dollars to you as president to change something for the worse, but you are better off because of it, most people will do it...

I would question his legitimacy, faith, name, place of birth and ability to make a ham sandwich.

Isn't that the norm these days?

Would it matter? Even if a pure as the driven snow person got into the whitehouse and was able to maintain that purity, we would still have corrupt as hell members of the House and Senate.

If he/she was intelligent and I felt honest who also had some executive experience, so I could determine that they could competently build a quality team, I would vote form them.

Indeed it is
From the 'Cokie the Clown' EP.

But to be serious about the question at hand, I would rather choose between real people and not some part of a huge coorperate machine that is a political party.

It sounds a great idea but I would question why any one who wants to be president or prime minister. I take that view that anyone who wants have this kind of power is mentally unfit and that should rule them out.

And just how does the average citizen fund such a bid?

Sad but true. They would end up dead.

Exactly. I knew someone who ran for President.

The problem is, they don't have what it takes -- the backing of a lot of people. It's difficult to get enough signatures to appear on a local ballot, let alone on the presidential ballot for a state. Here in Texas (famous for some of our odder politicians, like Kinky Friedman we have people from some very peculiar political groups running for state and local office and who can't raise their name recognition enough to get the signatures to get on a ballot.

Ordinary people simply don't have the social network to get the votes.

Now... any media star does have the name recognition, so actors and sports stars and so forth could run. But I'm afraid neither you nor I, no matter how excellent we might be as a President, will ever get enough of the country's attention to appear on a ballot or have the same chance as the very worst ranked of the current field of Republicans.

Average everyday citizens would do well as mayors and in some cases governors, but I believe that when you're in a position that powerful you're a complete puppet in the sense that you are either corrupted and tainted with miscreancy OR manipulated and controlled to the point where you're intimidated and ganged up on by the powerful groups that are working behind the scenes and pulling the strings.
