I would assume this has to do with The Roswell Incident: news.yahoo.com...

I have always assumed that the Roswell ETs were from the Zeta 2 Reticuli Star System and were the same race of ETs that abducted Betty and Barney Hill.

I think it's strange our government is now releasing all these files, Are we to call this disclosure on UFO's?
Is this a precursor to more information being released? In some ways it makes me ask more questions about the timing of the release of all these documents, why now? just curious..cheers coco

Yeah I totally agree...

This is practically saying "Aliens Exist"
That's exactly how I read it...

Also something I find odd...
2 years ago I would have jumped up and down, did flips and dove through a ring of fire
from the shear joy of hearing this... hearing that the government is finally starting to "let its hair down"
and come out with some truth...

now... i'm like "ehhhhhh, yeah well so what? Of course Aliens are real..."

Am I desensitized? Have we been conditioned?

Ok, we all know and understand that this is only information that an informant provided. However, as the media reports, that essential detail will become lost...as it was planned. I thought the heavy alien influences in western society's entertainment industries was a little strange, but here we have misinformation and general media reinforcement not so subtlety allowing the average joe to become "comfortable" with the idea of aliens.

But then again, I'm a 20 year old on a conspiracy website procrastinating course work....so it who knows, maybe I'm just bored and imagining things.

This document has been in the public domain for years, it wasn't just released. The FBI just put it up on their new site called the Vault, so the document is garnering attention again, but it wasn't just released.

I think a lot of us who are informed about Ufology and have been following it for several years would be less than surprised if there was suddenly full disclosure by the government regarding ET visitation.

At this point, it seems that ET visitation is most likely the true story about Roswell and not some top secret balloon project (i.e. Project Mogul or whatever).

Yes, the documents in the fbi vault exist for years...
But,
Today I saw 4 dutch news sites (in Belgium and Holland) bringing this as a headline as if the info was released just today!
So I wonder what is going on? Why bring this in the news now? They must know it isn't new...

No seriously, I think its just bad journalism.

Maybe the FBI issued a press release saying "The Vault is now open" of something innocent like that, and journalists not familiar with the topic are just now "discovering" this stuff thats been available elsewhere for years.

Then once a few news outlets make a story, the editors of other news outlets demand a story in their paper as well.
This "we got the story too" scenario happens more than you'd think.

maybe your right,
but the fbi won't have a press conference because all they did was put some old files and made them available in pdf format with searchable database... not worth a press conference imo

What make me feel kinda sad is not the memo itself but rather the attitude toward this subject of many people in the mainstream media as well as people posting comment on YH.....basically all they (media) are saying is "yeah, it's real, we got the document as such" and drop a statement like "now only thing we do is waiting for little greenman"

Thats just pure ignorant, folks.

Ufology and the ETH are subjects that many people haven't studied and are uninformed about. Therefore, they use their preconceived notions to make ignorant statements and ridicule these subjects.

Of course people who regularly visit this site may be a bit desensitized at the thought of alien life... But for the general population? No way!

Any official disclosure in mainstream media would rock the world.

I know that, but does it hurt to say something like "I dont know what's out there" a neutral positive statement rather than " little Greenman"

Tomorrow night on C2C am UFO Disclosure
Date: 04-14-11
Host: George Noory
Guests: Richard Dolan

UFO historian Richard Dolan comments on the FBI's newly released 1950 memo that recounts the discovery of flying saucers and aliens in New Mexico.

link: www.coasttocoastam.com...

So it will be interesting to see what Mr. Dolan has to say about this here's his bio:

Biography: Richard M. Dolan was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1962. He holds an MA in History from the University of Rochester and a BA in History from Alfred University. He earned a Certificate in Political Theory from Oxford University and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. Prior to his interest in anomalous phenomena, Dolan studied US Cold War strategy, Soviet history, and international diplomacy.

In 2000, he published a 500-page study, UFOs and the National Security State. This is the first volume of a two-part historical narrative of the national security dimensions of the UFO phenomenon from 1941 to the present. Included are the records of more than fifty military bases relating to innumerable violations of sensitive airspace by unknown objects, demonstrating that the US military has taken the topic of UFOs seriously indeed.

Apollo 14 astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell has called Dolan's book "monumental," while Dr. Hal Puthoff, Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin, has declared it to be "a must-read for serious students in the field."Dolan has published numerous articles on anomalous phenomena, science, and the intelligence community for UFO Magazine. In 2003, he helped to found Phenomena, a magazine dedicated to leading edge issues pertaining to science and society, and for which he continues to serve as Senior Editor and regular contributor.Richard Dolan also continues to research and write volume two of UFOs and the National Security State. He lives with his family in Rochester, New York.

I'll tune in and see what other info and opinions are up for grabs tomorrow night Cheers coco

I think the mainstream media is covering this because ETs sell - plain and simple. The memo proves nothing and makes no admissions on the part of the government, it is merely the report of an informant. The only purpose such a news story could possibly serve is to generate income or indoctrinate the public with ideas about us being visited by ETs.
