First of all, I want to say, this is just the beginning, you can tell it's only going to get worse from here

www.cnn.com...

Regulators have determined the amount of radioactive iodine released by the damaged reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant was at least 15 times the volume needed to reach the top of the International Nuclear Event Scale, the agency said. That figure is still about 10 percent of the amount released at Chernobyl, they said.

Full article at that link above.

Some important tid bits for people who don't feel like reading it all

The Chernobyl accident in the former Soviet Union rated a 7 on the scale, which equates to a "major release of radioactive material with widespread health and environmental effects requiring implementation of planned and extended countermeasures."

The amount of radioactive Cesium-137, which has a half-life of 30 years, is about one-seventh the amount released at Chernobyl, according to the agency.

Japan's government called for evacuations Monday from several towns beyond the danger zone already declared around Fukushima Daiichi, warning that residents could receive high doses of radiation over the coming months

Coming months... Of course, we all know what this meant. This is going to severely harm the economy and just the world overall. I send my thoughts to the Japanese people

S & F

My wonder is did they raise it based on the quake that happened today?

Basically, its official that they can't contain the radiation levels.

Plus I read that traces of uranium has been found on the west coast

Very nice thread BUT why can't people use the search that was just provided? Is it so hard?

No reason to attack me man, I didn't see the threads up, so I started my own. No one had the CNN Link from what I saw.

You are not helping at all by attacking me for "not using the search feature." Only being a little rude. Let the mods decide whether it should be deleted or not.

I am not attacking you as I asked a question and didn't mention your name. ATS just announced the new search feature they installed on the site. All you do is type in words relative to what your thinking about posting and it pulls up the topic if it has been. It is annoying viewing the new threads and seeing four of the same.
