U.S. hit with a weird combination of fire, water and ice

news.blogs.cnn.com

Hailstones covered a beach in Southern California over the weekend; tornadoes tore up a small town in Iowa; residents of Fargo, North Dakota, escaped a flood threat; and West Texas is battling the biggest wildfire outbreak in its history.

Yes, it’s spring in America.

The crazy weather is expected to continue today, with record temperatures predicted along the East Coast. Highs will top 80 as far north as Philadelphia, and it will feel like summer in the South. But an advancing cold front will set off a line of potentially severe storms from Texas to the Great Lakes, according to the Na

Piggy Backing on the threads speaking of wacky weather. I'm on the east coast, and it is well into the 80's here. Definitely abnormal for this area. I LOVE IT, but I do recognize it is strange. Add to the mix snow on the beach in california, and tornados, and fires in other places. It probably all has to do with the warming of the seas, and the tilt of earth, but any other reasons why you think this weather is acting up?

Solar flares? HAARP? Niburu? Comet Elenin?

Just waiting for some major "wind" to stir up and a major "earth" quake and we'll have to call Captian Planet:

Oh sorry, C.P has been laid off in the U.S for a decade or so...
This is a more updated picture:

Looks like he's put on a few pounds! This kind of weather extreme is typical for us here in the south....the Spring months can be pretty wild.

I live in Fargo, ND...this flooding happens every spring, nothing abnormal here. Actually I don't see what the big deal is, a couple of roads closed off, the same old dirt levees put up in the same old places. A bunch of people putting up sandbags around houses that shouldn't have been built so near the river anyway...

Same old story.

When i got on this thread i was expecting to see a disco dance group from the 70's Earth Wind and Fire

But on a serious note, it seems like a normal week in australia.
We have had floods in queensland and fire in victoria, and then we had a tropical cyclone in queensland an then a few little earth quakes.
Its just nature.

Ps. damn you, now im thinking of that band from the 70's, Earth ,Wind and Fire.
Damn you

What an awesome post!

I'm waiting for the big earthquakes, and in short order, for those blaming it on HAARP..

Clearly you are someone not familiar with weather in the Northeastern part of the country. I grew up in Philadelphia, normally around this time of the year the temps range from the 60's to the 70's, not the 80's. Just a couple weeks ago parts on Pennsylvania were still getting snow. Temps in the 80's do not occur until you get much closer to the summer months.

It's been freakin' snowing for what feels like months in Reno.

The thing is, while we do normally get snow, we don't normally get THIS MUCH, certainly not this much in April.

I agree... Here in VA we've had more thunderstorms this year, in a long time. I think on the news it stated that by april we've had more thunderstorms/hail then in previous years up to 10 yrs back. (this early in the year)

I can only imagine what summer will be like.. lots of heat, lots of storms.. It'll be like Florida up here in VA. Now what does that mean for florida????

More conundrums

Weather.com - Newark NJ - Bellmore, NY

"As of the 3 o'clock hour, these two cities (newark NJ, and Bellmore, NY) are separated by just 35 miles and close to 30 degrees! What are the reasons for this temperature disparity between Bellmore, NY and Newark, NJ?"

Weather in Western New York is perfectly normal for spring. A couple of days of freezing temps, then 70 degree days.Lakes are thawed so time for thunderstorms.
