Aliens won't be doing much in the near future

I too have wondered how many visits these aliens need to figure out we are a planet of consant war and greed. 2 or three visits a couple of centuries apart then never visit again for a few thousand years. This plant has presently got nothing to offer aliens a warm welcome.

I don't think many folks are expecting aliens to land and solve all of our problems. What gives you that idea?

And humanity, beyond all its wars, problems, disasters, continue to press on. We are doing what you said - there is only so fast humans can develop. While people on this site are apt to always see the worst first (or only see the worst ever), I see there is good and progress as well. We are slowly getting there.

Just because aliens don't have a humanity-helping agenda doesn't mean that they are not there.
