O.k so you have a black father and white mother please tell me before the child is born what is their race?
or this is only decided after the child is born and can not be determined until you can see the color of their skin?
Does this apply to any other mixed races? If my skin color is black and my family has been in the USA for 200 years and my wife is white and we have a child that is fair skin is that child Black or White and if you say mulatto does this not fit Obama so therefore not black?
How is Obama black? Can you choose one parental gene over the other? Would this then not discriminate against those that are of one ancestry and have no alternative?
Doesn't he have another parent who is not? or does this not count and can be ignored depending on circumstances and situation?
So if you look black and have one black parent but the other is of another nationality it does not matter, you are black and the other half that made you does not exist?
So if you are half Indian and half white are you Indian or white? or you can pick whichever?
Does this only go for black people that as long as one parent is black then you are black?
So if you are half Latino and half black what is your race then?
What if you are Italian and Irish, then what are you?
So as long as you are mixed it is your option to choose?
Seems like reverse discrimination against those that are full blood seems they have no alternative.
O.k. so if i'm 100% Italian but my father is Sicilian doesn't that make me black seems the Sicilians and Africans have been crossbreeding for 100's of years?
O.k if I'm Brazilian and my skin color is black am I Latino or black?
If i'm Brazilian but my skin is white am i Latino or white?
Or if you are mixed you can completely deny the other half depending on what side of the family can garner and benefit you the most?
We see how Tiger is completely denied from representing his other half and only considered black, geez i wonder how the one who actually gave birth to him feels as she and the other members of her family is denied any acknowledgment whatsoever.
Same with Obama and i wonder how the other half of his family feels seems according to the major consensus he is black and denied representing his other half as it would interfere with benefiting his agenda.
Bottom line is there should be NO ONE RACE chosen above the other and this whole race and color of your skin should be completely taken off applications or any other circumstance where race comes into play.
You are either a qualified human being or not and this whole race thing needs to be gone forever but it's not going anywhere because as long as race is an issue we will fight among ourselves and never unite as a human race which is what TPTB want.
United we stand and divided we fall and we are ALL guilty of being divided by an ideology set up by TPTB to keep us quarreling about the most ridiculous and idiotic idea ever put in mankinds head.
We were ALL created the same way so get over your brother or sister looking different from you on the outside as this is just a distraction and justification for you to hate someone and willing to destroy and kill people when you don't even know or understand them.
Before anyone uses the race card i am white and was married to a black woman from central america and do not see color only good or bad people but have found that racism is just as rampant in Latin America even though they are Latino the whites are placed ahead of blacks when it comes to politics and business and it's a world wide problem not just in the USA. This is why i believe racism was created from the very beginning to purposely keep man apart because we do not know racism when we are born only when we become a product and influenced by our environment.
PLEASE TRY TO UNDERSTAND YOUR BROTHER OR SISTER BEFORE PASSING JUDGMENT.
Hope to see most of you in the next dimension beyond the physical.

I been saying he is mixed the ignorant only see his brown skin and not his mixed blood... Thats why I voted for him for my first time ever voting not because he was appearing as Africanaz but because he shared multiple bloods of conflict which seemed balanced. Since I was a child I always wondered would there be a femal pres or different race pres. And it psychologically bothered me back then. So when I seen him run I was proud to see Americanaz mature above the level of race that seemed so traditional. But I was reminded that thru my years mixed kids are usually thrown into black race like since they got mix they aint pure. And pure makes no sense to me... S&F good topic.

He is black nor white.
Once you combine black and white all you get is gray, no matter how much white you add it is still gray.
Which may just be the reason that there are so many gray areas when it comes to barry.

Agreed, now that America seems to be past the racial divide, maybe we can just get a good human into office.
I don't care if he or she is purple or green.
Just a good person.

Agreed
A humble person who really cares for others and will set global example of how other leaders should behave.

Good point made

I see your point and appreciate your thoughts.
I would say that the idea of race and all its varied definitions are entirely subjective not only to the person who may be using the words but to the situation in which they are used.

He was bi-racial when campaigning for office. Once he was sworn in, he became black.

I was very surprised too how fast he became black. Even when posing with his white family members (grandma?)

As someone else said, he's half black, and half white, and if you mix the two, you get grey,
So, what does that make him? A Grey? Or Gray? ET? Maybe, and maybe it was planned this way.

I always assume it's a reference to colour of hair. Makes as much sense as colour of skin or colour of eyes or colour of teeth .....

The traditional term for mixed white/African races is "mulatto". (Wikipedia.org - Mulatto)

Then there's the "one-drop rule". (Wikipedia.org - One drop rule)

I (and I'm sure around the world I'm not alone here) simply see Obama as being American. Like Morgan Freeman, Babe Ruth, Homer Simpson and Arnold Schwazenegger.

(and yes, I know Arnie was born in Austria - but anyone who has been Governor of California is as American as you can get)

The one drop rule is old racist crap, and only racists still use it, usually on the left anti-white brigade.

We need to rise above skin color identity.

He says in his book he is black. He sees himself as black, he identifies with his black half more so than the white, he just alround would rather be 100% black like his father. That is why we call him black. Because that is what he wants. Im anglo, there is some American indian in there but I usually just check the white box cause of my blue eyes and sandy hair and all. I just look white and that is the part of me I identify with. Obama did the same by his own choice that nobody forced on him. I just respect his choice to identify as black so I say yeah hes black instead of yeah he is biracial.
