A new program in the UK is making citizens aware of what to do in a terrorists attack and other kinds of catastrophic incidents. This 22 page booklet is scheduled to be dropped into 25 million UK mail boxes. Although this is not due to any specific threat it will help people understand what to do during terrorist attacks or other (including natural disaster) situations.

"It is all about helping you to do what you need to do and know what you need to know," he told the BBC.

"This could be from a terrorism attack all the way through to a major fire, to a flood, to a situation where you're actually trying to help other people."

There's no time like the present if you ask me. This is more alarming than they are making it sound if you ask me, only today would they send out a 22 page booklet that included what to do during a terrorist attack. Five years ago when there was no concern about the matter of terrorism I hardly think that a booklet would be sent to every person in the country on what to do if there was a flood or typhoon. It would seem that this is a terrorism awareness booklet disguised to cover a range of other issues so it doesn't look as serious as it really is.

Let's hope the new pamphlet has better advice than the old classic waste of paper; the 1980's "Protect and Survive" booklet.

You can get an idea of the official view of how to deal with a UK Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear incident from these UK Government Official Guidances, which are found on the UK Resilience web site.

Home Office: Strategic National Guidance - the Decontamination of People Exposed to Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear (CBRN) Substances or Material - second edition (.pdf, 45 pages 396kb)

What, like the cold war's "duck and cover"?

I will be interested to read it, considering we haven't had any attack yet. Its gonna happen.

But I did find a site on how to build your own bomb shelter....

Good luck

whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!So much for this world is a safer world since bushes fight against terrorism.

I wonder where that safer world is located so I can move my family to it, and for pamphlets and brochures now we can trade our travel brochures for terrorist awareness one this is hilarious in a kind of sad way.

Relentless, I imagine that the terrorism advice pamphlet will be available for download on the Home Office website during the next week.
