Wednesday, April 6, 2011 - 5:15 pm We're not sure what it is, but what appeared to be a giant long tank of some kind required the help of state police and patience from motorists and pedestrians to make the turn in Potsdam from Elm Street onto Market Street Wednesday. For those of you viewing this photo from Florida or some other warm place, that's snow on it. Tom Wheeler of Canton, who took the photo, said there was no indication of what it was, where it was coming from, or where it was going, but we thought you'd like to see it.

A couple of questions:
What transport company is being used to move it?
Where did it end up being delivered to?
Where did it come from?
If you can find out the name of the company that is transporting it, you could possibly find where it came from, and to who it's going to.
My guess would be that it's a pipeline of sorts. I have heard talk about building a new major pipeline in the US.
But it's just that, talk. I doubt they would have started already.

That sucker looks to be about 200 ft long. It must be very strong, because it is not supported in the middle. There appears to be upward pointing spigot at the fron end. Could it be a vertical distillation column for a petro chemical plant?
