New policy?

I have noticed that similar threads even thought in different sections; one is being directed to the other.

As I recall similar threads would be allowed to coexist, if in different forums. Whaaa?

I remember within the last month seeing a mod say that they allow it, if a post pops up in breaking alt news, and another pops up in say the UFO section. I wish I could remember which thread it was in though to link.

That's my understanding as well—that multiple threads on a similar topic could exist so long as they were in separate forums and took a take on the issue pertinent to that forum.

I believe 2 threads are allowed to exist if one is in a regular forum and one is in a "breaking news" forum like Breaking Alternative, Breaking Political or Breaking General... I don't know, though, since the 2010 version, this rule may have changed. Sorry, I realize I'm no help at all.

We allow the same topic to have two threads when one thread is in "Breaking News".
