It may not seem like it yet, but I'm pretty sure Fukushima will re-write the scale...just like a crazy bad earthquake would.

I do not think we need to re-write the scales of devastation, just add to them maybe? That would be like re-adjusting the safe levels of contamination that "they" are doing.

I believe the strongest magnitude quake ever recorded was a 9.5 in Chile. Thats not to say a bigger one hasn't occurred,only that seismographs weren't around if there ever was a bigger one.Personally, I hope I never experience one that big.I was in San Francisco in 1989.That was "only' a 7.9 and was the most frightening experience I ever had.

I think we'll all know if we ever get a 10, let alone an 11!.
