Why is it that the most obvious danger to America's economy is completely ignored?
The debt is now over seven trillion dollars. 7,000,000,000,000. It's being increased by a defecit of 400 billion this year. The principle on the
interest alone this year is 316 billion.
The simplest individual knows that a household or a business must avoid 'being stuck in the hole,' or 'having the books in red.' In 1898, just
before the Spanish American war, our national debt was about 1 billion. A little over a hundred years later it's seven trillion. The public
doesn't seem to care, and only President Clinton seemed to be concerned with the debt out of all the US presidents.
The debt causes back-breaking taxation. Taxation without representation was one of the reasons the Revolutionary War started. Now we have massive
taxation again, and we're starting to combine that with a police state. When Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neil told the President that the
national debt was a bad thing, Dick Cheney said 'Reagan proved that deficits don't matter.'
Don't matter? Hell's Bells! The value of the US dollar is dependent on our ability to pay principle on the national debt. If we default, the
dollar will become worthless! If there was no national debt, we could have an across-the-board 20% decrease in income tax. Why don't politicians
push this point and strive to make America debt-free?
At what point will Americans say 'Enough taxation, this is ridiculous!' And stop paying taxes to the Federal Government, or, what if states decide
they don't have to be part of such a fiscally bad government and simply secede?
Is there a conspiracy to cause another Civil War and remake America? If we combine back-breaking taxation (loss of freedom, since freedom = money)
with an actual police state, the United States won't last long.
The negative affect of the National Debt has to be obvious to politicians and leaders. Why do the majority of them only increase it? Are they trying
to bilk the government for everything its worth before it simply tanks?
Something smells here.
