i'd never want to be a sheep, and i'm not saying i'm a part of some unique group either. people just do what they're told and i think thats badd

what you said about wool makes a lot of sense though, i was wrong in going so far and i end up sharing the same thought because i have too used the wool.

I think me and boncho just took this a little too far.

Again it goes deeper than that. Leave it to Beaver was considered moral programming. But anyone who tried to emulate that in real life would go insane trying to adhere to such unrealistic goals.

They have had problems with media programming for a lo-o-o-ong time. The moral of the story is to not base your life on things you see on TV. It is a pretty simple system. And if you have a good base of friends and family that are not complete morons, you should be apt to do this.

Oh, and question everything, even people claiming to have discovered the dark world of brainwashing

i'd say that's a successful argument
if you have any other thoughts please post them, i want to sleep on this so i don't get in to far and mess up my original thoughts.

cheers.

i will say though that i agree with what you say about not letting tv become your life, and it's definitely a problem that's facing a lot of americans, even moreover probably the entire world ]=

call me arrogant i agree with you because ignorance like preaching how great reality tv is just drives home my point.

Was I preaching how great Reality TV was or was I identifying key variables that led to its popularity?

Second...

You can't really stop it, brainwashing starts from a young age, it's mostly kids and teens, now if you can find a way to stop a teen from going out and purchasing items aimed at brain washing them , or dressing like they're slutty idol, i'll bake you a huge blueberry muffin

I think parents can play a huge roll in this, watch what your children watch. Don't go extreme, but make sure they know what this whole consumer monster is all about.

If you want to stop your teen from the effects of brainwashing you need to teach them three things:

1: Their opinion is very important and involve them in all family decisions.
2: Advertisements and all media has an agenda to control your actions.
3: Critical thinking is more respectable than football, cheer leading, grades, and friendship.

1: will instill in the children that what they want and how they feel is more important than what anyone else tells them. They may become arrogant elitists but that will go away with age. The only way to not raise a follower is to raise a leader.

2: Teens hate being controlled more than anything.

3: This will only work if you have succeeded in number 1 and number 2. It is important not to push other parental agendas such as sports or grades otherwise you are being a hypocrite when saying critical thought is important.

Where is my muffin?

Lol i better get baking

I think the issue with teens , and why they're so easy to manipulate is the whole peer pressure thing, and most teens fall into that, all my friends have it, i must have it too.

stop watching TV, and only use your computer for watching whatever. unplug your TV, because even when it's shut off it's still sending out frequencies to keep your body in a 'low'(stupid range). don't believe me? research it.

after a week of having your TV unplugged you will notice a huge difference in your perception of world around you.

I think the main problem with what we call 'brainwashing' in our culture is that we are in a constant state of distraction. These distractions all seem to have a common philosophy: selfishness is the way to happiness. There is nothing in our culture that encourages compassion towards one another.

I don't think it's fair to call people 'sheep' though. We're bombarded with information that's meant to manipulate us 24/7 by professionals who have everything from focus groups to psychologists on their side. It's like a battle between a military-run tank and a kid with a tonka truck. And the kid has no idea he's in a battle.
