I was just on SOHO yesterday aftrenoon and it was working fine. I have been wanting to keep track of this smaller light near the SUN and I took this image the last time it was working...

So last night I go to get on it and I try every possible thing I could think of and all I keep getting is NO DATA AVAILABLE...and again today, all day the same..I seen another thread where it shows a huge flare from about the same time I noticed that SOHO stopped working for me...so im wondering,is SOHO not working because of this flare? Is it usual for SOHO to keep showing NO DATA AVAILABLE foe this long? Or is it just when I go to get on it and its working fine for others?

The smaller light you see is mercury. And the site is not down. It updates every 12 hours. It will be back on soon.

Try this link:
SOHO
It seems to be working fine.
Also take a look at the Sungrazers web page. It lists all the planets transitions through the cameras images. The link is on the bottom of the SOHO page. Go down the page on the lower left side, look for Transits and click on the camera you want to know about (C2, C3, etc.) and then the year you're looking for. It will show you a list of the transits and when they'll be moving through the view.

No, it's Jupiter.

It went behind that dark 'stream', which is a product of SOHO's solar shield.

The exact same thing happened to Mercury, though, in its recent transit. Didn't see anyone complaining about that, or throwing up wild theories.

I'm new here. How do I watch SOHO? Do I have to download a program to my computer?
