Hi,
Today I became an uncle, my sister had a beautiful baby boy this morning, James Oliver weighing in at 6lbs 14ozs.
No conspiracy in that you might say. Well here is the thing, over the last 2 years I've now seen 6 boys born and no girls in my immediate family.
We were secretively hoping for a girl to re-address the balance but alas we’ve welcomed another baby boy into the world.
This got me to thinking, I know ATS has had topics on the decline of birth rates over the years but has anyone ever considered any evidence in
relation to birth gender imbalance ?
Wikipedia has predicted birth rates until 2050 and this shows a steady decline;
Typically, high birth rates has been associated with health impairments and low life expectancy, low living standards, low status of women,
and low levels of education. There are claims that as countries go through economic development and social change, population growth such as birth
rate declines.

Moving onto the sex ratio article on Wikipedia (
en.wikipedia.org... ) the CIA have estimated that the world sex ratio at birth is
approximately 107 boys to 100 girls.
According to the 2007 issue of the United Nations Demographic Yearbook, there were 63 million more boys (956 million, 51.7%) than girls (893 million,
48.3%) below the age of 15 in the world.

I haven’t managed to find any birth rate statistics past 2008 for the world populations but I’m sure local variations of the sex ratio statistics
are probably available in one form or another.
‘Are there more boys than girls’ does seem to be a question that comes up when researching this topic, here are a few more links that discuss;

Has anyone else done any research on the topic or have access to more recent data than 2008 ?
I suspect that linked with lifestyles and the growing life expetancy these are contributing to this theme or perhaps there is a global conspiracy to
reduce and de-stabilise population growth.
