Facebook: Intifada page removed when comments 'deteriorated to direct calls for violence'

www .haaretz.com

Facebook removed a hugely popular and controversial page supporting a third intifada once it saw that comments on the page had “deteriorated to direct calls for violence,” the social networking giant told the State of Israel, in a letter published Thursday.

Good, who do these palestinians think they are trying to cause more trouble.
The letter came in response to a letter to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, in which he warned that the page included calls to kill Jews and to liberate Jerusalem through violence. The page incites to violence and violates Facebook content regulations.
after the publicity of the Page more comments deteriorated to direct calls for violence. Eventually, the administrators also participated in these calls .After administrators of the page received repeated warnings about posts that violated our policies, we removed the Page yesterday.”

It's a perfect example of why social content, without moderation, can be made to fail.

Even if it were attributed to agent provocateurs, moderation would have saved the gathering place for those not interested in the violent rantings of zealots who are not motivated by reason, but unchecked passion for revenge and hatred.

I am embarrassed to admit, I didn't even know there was such a thing as an Intifada Facebook page.

I am sure that the CIA and NSA had a field day gathering mountains of intel. Names, IP addresses, physical addresses, friends lists, connected social groups, family members, places of worship. It is like a free banquet for the Intel community! Might as well just mail it all in to them. 350,000 potential assets and targets, all just signing up for the no fly list voluntarily.

That's a good way of looking at it. This is a perfect example of why there is monitoring going on.
Star for you.

You know, with all these CIA MOSSAD etc bots running around on the internet, and the way these websites act, all they have to do to get a page they don't like taken down, is make some calls for violence, and poof. Job well done, cheap, easy, effective.

Maxmars,

I am embarrassed to admit, I didn't even know there was such a thing as an Intifada Facebook page.

I am not embarrased to "not know" that there was an Intifada Facebook page. I have never been to facebook or looked into taking out a page. Nor have I ever been to Twitter or opened up an account. No interest in it.

But I am not surprised that this thing detiorated into "Wildlife" in it's natural habitat. Expect more of the same in the coming years ...and more of it...daily...to a neighborhood near you.

Thanks,
Orangetom

Asking for stars, flags and applause is a bit of a no no, in my opinion, bit like asking the teacher for a gold star for your homework, I will star you though, if it makes you feel better
