"Watching a romantic movie can boost progesterone levels more than 10 percent, bringing couples closer together, according to new research at the University of Michigan. A movie like "The Godfather" can alter testosterone and dampen attentive feelings."

No wonder my love life has been quiet lately! Too many documentaries

That's why I never catch the endings of chick flicks when I'm there with my girlfriend ...

Sorry, but no amount of progesterone boosting could make me watch the trash they like to call "Romantic" or that other genre... "Romcom" ...

*shudders*

I do admit freely that there are a few golden oldies, but that's about it... Nowadays the majority of the trash produced are all the same.

I'll take an As Good As It Gets or Lost In Translation over twelve *insert random teenybopper romcom here*

As a "chick", I must be wired wrong... I *hate* "chickflicks" with a passion. Same for "romcoms". Just the thought of having to sit through one makes my eyes glaze over, and my body starts to twitch.

*eergh*

Now, give me action/blood and guts/slasher psycho freak/psychological thriller/ANYTHING except those two genres mentioned above, and I'm a happy camper! And if the teenyboppers are killed off in the first 2 minutes of the film, then it's that much better!

the "romantic" flicks me and my wife watch are called porn, and are easilly available at your local video store or mail. they always bring us closer together....

LOL I'm another chick who must be wired wrong. Today's chick flicks don't do it for me. I do like movies with a hint of romance mixed with danger...but not those sappy tear jerkers with an ending you can guess from frame 1.

Besides that, even if chick flicks flipped my switch, it wouldn't do my husband much good because he just flat-out refuses to watch them

Ladies, why is it when you realize you don't like what the media refers to as "chick flicks" you all say you must be wired wrong-there is nothing wrong with your wiring. You like what you like, don't like what you don't like. What ever works as an enhancer of romance is just fine whether it is "what women want or Freddy vs. Jason-ENJOY!
I have known some women that were tougher than most guys I know and I have known women that were very girly girls. You are who you are and for GODS sack, dont feel just because you dont feel like what TV tells you, you should, you are wrong, bad, weird or wired wrong-EVER.
By the way ladies, this is a guy saying this!

well said mrmonsoon

yeah i know women that are tougher than guys( my mum ), some chick flicks have absolutley nothing to them- its that stare at the screen type film.

Like i said i like something that is gonna keep you interested and on the edge of your seat- dont get me wrong i do like some romcom films- but then alot of them borderline teenflicks- if you know what i mean

Frankly, chick flicks could be improved vastly with some running kung fu battles, some hair-raising escapes, a gun/sword fight or two, and a chase scene (preferably on horses and on foot and maybe on motorcycles.)

Can't stand 'em, myself. Hubby and I will cuddle up to a good Jackie Chan flick, though. But sappy relationship stuff? Eeew. I leave the room!

Some 'chick flicks' can be somewhat palatable if they are mixed with large amounts of humor, but with titles like "Love in the City" "Loving a Random Cute guy I just Met" and of course "Kissy, Kissy, Love, Love" They just don't market themselves as decent movies! They make me quite sick to my stomach.
