A few months ago, I was going over the thewhyfiles.com (really interesting reading by the way), and they shut down the site all of the sudden and replaced it with a message saying that it was down due to unauthorized hacking.

I was wondering if anyone here had the inside word on whether or not the site would be returning anytime soon or if they are going to update it. I hate getting half-way into a good book, only to have it suddenly disappear out from under my nose.

Thank you.

If they didn't keep decent backups, a hacker could have deleted all their content. Resulting in having nothing left to show.

Rebuilding a site with alot of resources takes alot of time.

There is always the possibility that they had some real info on their site, by accident and were shut down/hacked by gov hackers. Why would the government hack a site instead of "officially" shutting it down? If you hack it and destroy it, it was done by some kid with to much time on his hand, if the government shuts down the site- it is acknowledging that what they had on the site was accurate.
