Was it just a star I saw.

Im from down under in New Zealand. This morning I looked up at the sky at about 7am, it was just on sunrise. Sky was clear. Very clear. Then looking east not far from the moon I saw a very bright star. The only one i could see in the whole sky. Im no expert. But could this be Elin. Or something else. Some answers would be good. Thanks

Maybe its Venus.

MORNING SKY SHOW: Awake at dawn? Rush to the window and look east. For the next two mornings, the crescent Moon and Venus are gathering for a beautiful sunrise conjunction.

Venus

LIke a goodly percentage of UFOs, that was Venus.

It can be really shocking if you're not used to being awake, or looking in its direction, that early in the morning. I woke up actually on time for once a few days ago, and looked out the window. I was so freaked by this very vivid star yet dawn being well underway -- and then remembered that there's a reason that Venus is called "The Morning Star."
