TA-ANALYSIS: US Aircraft Carrier Collides with Dhow Boat

A US aircraft carrier has collided with a dhow, a type of small sailboat. It seems that it somehow escaped the technology of the US tracking systems and was able to be "run over" by the air craft carrier. Although it was classified as an "accident," the truth of the matter is next time a small fishing boat like this could be filled with explosives.



If this was not a dry run for terrorists I bet it just gave them a new idea of how to get close to a air craft carrier.

From the description of the vessel sunk it appears it was in the wrong place at the right time. A boat of this type becomes almost invisible to radar and the human eye especially during hours of darkness. This is the main reason why recreational sail boats don't like shipping lanes.
For all we no this could have been a terriorist plot and this time they were on the receiving end.

Well wood is difficult to pick up by radar. But that would have been scary having you little boat run over by an aircraft carrier. Well if it was a terrorist plot than HA HA HA HA!!!!! If not than well my sympathy to who ever was on the boat.

If you have a huge ship heading your way, personally I would of started the engine and got the hell out of its way! The carrier should of detected but nothing in this world is perfect, I wouldn't blame it on anyone though, sht happens.

This is the type of new warfare the U.S. military has to be prepared to fight. Gone are the days when your enemy fights "fair" Big aircraft carriers and ships can easily be destroyed/heavily damaged by terrorists.

We'll see, if terrorists didn't have this wooden boat idea before they have it now. How hard can it be?

Well, the people on the dhow probably didn't see that itsy bitsy aircraft carrier bearing down on them. I mean really...those carriers are so hard to see anyway...especially being dark, and all.

Good point about the 'dry run' question. If it wasn't intended as, then I'm sure it became one as soon as the terrorists saw the news. On the bright side, this will also be a wake-up call for the Navy. Nobody wants to be the next USS Cole, believe that! I'm sure security for this sort of thing will be upgraded.
