Actually it was more like 80% applause, 20% booing, Fox News Made it seem as if 100% Boo, Then showed Steve Martin trying to belittle him. Jesus Christ, Steve Martin movies blow. He should be banned from making any more.

I like Steve Martin alot. I think he is a great comedian with a very good sense of humor. If any news network tried to make it seem like Steve was belittling Mike then it was spun. Steve was just trying to lessen the tension brought on by his comments.

Firstly, I watched it live as well, and no matter what euro-liberal news channels say, the boos far outweighed the cheers. Secondly, when will someone tell these people that they are entertainers not military strategists, politicians, or monarchs. Now, tell me that everyone is entitled to free speech and I agree with you, but is every American given a fair chance to state their point on stage at the Academy Awards? He was up there as an artist, not a military expert or political analyst. I am no expert either and do not claim to be, but if you live in this country, don't call our president fictitious. If you don't like it, Canada is very welcoming. Baldwin had big balls before the election and failed to back it up by leaving the country, Moore is the same. Blah blah blah and then nothing. Thanks for the memories Moore-on.

He was given his award not as an entertainer but as an educator, thats why his category was Best Documentary rather than Best Inane Flick. The point of his movie was not to entertain, though it was at some times wuite entertaining, but to enlighten the public to the problems with American violence. Any entertainment was just a bonus feature.

Have you watched the movie? Have you read any Moore books? If you had then you would understand that Moore is very intelligent when it comes to politics and society. You contradicted yourself: If "everyone is entitled to free speech and I agree with you" then why cant I "call our president fictitious"?

Canada is a very welcome place, as you would know from watching the film, a place where with a ratio ten people for every seven guns, there are less than 100 deaths from guns per year compared to Americas 11,000. However I continue to be American because it is my right to try to change America for the better as Moore does. If Moore is like Baldwin then why does he continue to be anti-bush and live in America.

Blah Blah Blah Moore-on very intelligent, want a cookie for all of that brain power.

I'm glad I haven't seen Moore's movie and I don't plan too!
Our sons and daughters are in this war. Risking their lives. Like it or not! United States citizens should support our troops!

The movie is subtle in being against America's massacres overseas. It is mostly about domestic massacres commited by American citizens who have gotten ahold of weapons.

Ok maybe I'm being misunderstood, all I am saying is these hollywood celebrities should get off their high horses. They are normal citizens like the rest of us. They would like to make it seem like this conflict's intention is to blow up nursery schools in Iraq. Come on.

And as for your last line, I'll pretend not to have seen that sad attempt at making fun of me, because other than that your post was intelligent.

Really though, let's allow all citizens of America (pro and anti war) some time on the national stage for opinions to be heard. The fact that only a bunch of actors gets this privelege is sad and not representative of this country. Freedom of speech is real nice when you can afford it isn't it?

hello

earth to forum

M. Moore is a comedian. A fairly intelligent politically-minded comedian, but ultimately... a comedian.

What did he do to promote his new movie? Why, he went on tour with a stand-up comic routine.

He is an entertainer, he entertained. He set out to shock, he succeeded. He did it because he can do it here and for that I am very thankful.

UUh, your daughters and sons choose by themselves to be a part of the war.. And then if they got some more training the war might have gone more smoothly..

Let's not kid ourselves It's all about the spices. That's what caused the whole business in the first place. So let's all each other give the spices back and we'll all be cool like little "Ninja's" etc.

Nah, the boos were greater than the appaulse. This idiot is just another commie anti-American. He's a fat moron, simple as that. I'm surprised that the actors did'nt throw their Osacrs at him
. I like what Bill O'Reilly said on The View. "With all due respect he's a baffoon". That gets the point right across. Another baffoon to add to my boycott list.

Quite a shame that you have to throw in a comment like that, this thread was going smoothly.

Anyway back to the thread. I highly disagree with what he said, but look at all the commotion he stirred not only in this forum, but all over the US and UK, its been all over the news. Think his movie attendance will go up, I'll bet it will. Maybe a marketing ploy??

Can I boycott you?

Everyone really seems to be missing the more important point. And as this thread continues, I find myself more and more liking what Mr. Moore did.

WHAT?

yes

YOU COMMIE BASTARD! WHY

Because he can. And that's much more important than what he said.

But I suppose I don't expect you to understand that.

I've never seen BFC, but I believe that the Academy thought he deserved an Oscar for his work. The problem is that he decided to bring his political views to stage in front of millions of viewers and every Hollywood heavywieght during a very precarious time. Although I don't agree with his opinion, I do believe that he is entitled to one. He should probably work on some issues like timing for instance.

Sure he can say what he wants, but when he says it in public in front of such a huge audience, he has to be ready to take the flack.
I really don't think he gives 2 #s about the war, but was more interested in gaining some noteriety for his outburst.
Let's face it, he gets off on pissing people off.

Have you ever listned to or read an interview of him? Or read any of his ideas?

He really believes in his views and he will not back down to some corporation. Because of this he has been kicked from one network to the next because he scares the people in charge. He is bringing back muckraking. Something that may sound bad but is actually responsible for many good things that have happened to America, Food regulation laws, Standard wages, standard working hours, and the fall of the monopoly are all direct results of muckraking. Please dont blather about something you dont know about. I feel that I can blather about Conservative Pundits like Ann Coulter because I regularly read her Column and I know what I am talking about. So before you go out and try to blather, research a little, it makes your points more intelligent.

Hmmmm. The fact that you listen to the "O-Really" Factor on foxnews is enough to show that you lack both the intelligence and breeding to make such a bold statement.....but add in the fact that you misspelled buffoon, and I am forced to ask myself:

Why am I honoring him with a reply?

Folks, Mr. Moore is an American, more of an American then most of you here, even more then me. I left my imperialist nation to join one that was truly free.

I think many of you forget that our government was based off of the French...that our country was only allowed to develop because France helped us win an unwinnable war. (The revolutionary war, for you whose I.Q.'s are less then 156)

Please, I beg you, research your facts before mouthing off. Mr. Moore wrote a book that all but predicted the Enron/Worldcom scandals, and he was credited for being a prophet of sorts.

HEY! Jethro, Jed, come-on over here... lookie here, we got ourselves a bon-a-fied liberal elitist right here.

Galll-damn!

I sure hope we can keep up with the likes of this one.

Can the 'tude sonny-boy.

Moore is an entertainer, a reasonably intelligent one, but still an entertainer. His book, "Stupid White Men", which I'm sure you;re referring to, only read the cards as they sat. Corporate scandal watching was not prophetic at the time he wrote, but obvious for those who bothered to look.

Now, if you'd like to contribute to discussion on ATS, let's see if you can do it without the corn-ball superior attitude, huh?

"I have never been attacked by a black person...." (Michael Moore, Stupid White Men)

The fat leftist swine Michael Moore, who once dared to badger Mayor Rudy Giuliani at a New York City Hall press conference, gave aid and comfort to the Iraqi enemy during the March 23, 2003 Oscar ceremonies by calling President Bush the "fictitious" leader of a "fictious" war. Moore was on hand to accept his Oscar for the anti-gun Bowling for Columbine, a distorted and contemptuous look at the same gun-owning middle Americans whom he pretended to espouse in his first opus, Roger and Me, a socialist attack on America's automobile industry disguised as "centrist" muckraking. In the plagiarized Stupid White Men, the bloated elitist claimed that he has never suffered an injury at the hands of a black.

Would anyone dare to write a book entitled Stupid Black Men? (A redundant title in any event!)

It sounds as though you would like to silence comments such as Moore's because you feel they give "aid and comfort" to the enemy.

Am I correct in this assumption U.S. Patriot?
