So when it came time to decide on nuclear energy who dropped the ball?
Greetings:
Excellent question.
One can find plenty of people and organizations to point the finger at. As a starting-point to understand who is responsible for how we got into this
mess, how it continues to be the beast that won't die, and what we might do to change the situation we now find ourselves in and to assist in the
research of nukes in America, one can find pertinent information and an overview of the nuclear facilities on the West Coast here.
Will America's Nuclear Power Plants Fail in an 8.0 Earthquake?
We are continuing the series with a report on the Yellowstone-to-New Madrid regions soon.
As the nuclear mega-disaster in Japan continues to escalate out of control, may we share an opinion on this "too cheap to meter" energy source.
Yes, we take it somewhat personally that we failed to completely stop this madness when we painted the infamous "Blue Line" on the highway in front of
Diablo Canyon - a part of the "No Diablo Over Me" protest and benefit concert to ensure that Diablo would be the last nuke ever built in California.
It helped - and proved that "a rag-tag" (MSM line) group of protestors (over 4,000 strong - united with the single base idea of saving Mother Earth)
no more nukes in California.
The end of natural resources is programmed, whereas no long-term collective project has been launched. Ecosystem exhaustion mechanisms have exceeded
irreversible limits. At certain stages of evolution, cosmic "humanities" discover new forms of science beyond the apparent control of matter -
structured dematerialization and materialization at the cost of hazardous compromises that remain purposely hidden from us by some of our
representatives.
There continues to be no solution for the disposal of nuclear waste, and the deadly poison is being stored on-site at many more places than just the
104 reactors that are bandied about in the news. These storage facilities are perhaps the most vulnerable to seismic activity, terrorist attacks (due
to lax or non-existent security) and plain old stupid decisions as how to "safely" store this deadly toxic waste.
Railroad cars carrying some 123 tons of nuclear waste glow red-hot in an infrared picture taken in Valognes, France, in November and released by
Greenpeace International as part of an antinuclear-power campaign that included arranging protests that delayed the train's progress. The train is
hauling a so-called CASTOR convoy, named after the type of container carried: Cask for Storage and Transport Of Radioactive material. These
trademarked casks have been used since 1995 to transport nuclear waste from German power plants to France for reprocessing, then back to for
storage.

And now, for something completely different.
The Environmental Protection Agency has ruled that DOE must demonstrate that Yucca Mountain can meet EPA standards for public and environmental
health for 10,000 years. Does that mean radioactivity won't be a threat after 10,000 years? Nope. The peak radiation
dose to the environment will occur after 400,000 years, according to DOE.
Nevertheless, and despite objections from many scientists, EPA decided on 10,000 years because of "tremendous uncertainties"
beyond that period.
"Do you think we will still have a Department of Energy 300,000 years from now?" I was asked by Steve Page, director of EPA's Office of Radiation and
Indoor Air. I don't know. But there's no uncertainty about how long it takes radioactivity to subside, about ten half-lives. For plutonium
239, this is 240,000 years. source
The nuclear crisis in Japan is the wake-up call at three in the morning that should spell the end for nuclear energy in America - if people actually
wake up and do something instead of watching
Dancing With the Stars or
Cupcake Wars.
The education of our children and our living conditions, as well as the conditions of numerous animals and much plant life are nevertheless under the
thumb of a small number of our political, financial, military and religious representatives, however, most people think of them as "bumbling uncles"
that really mean to represent the ideals of even the lumpenprolateriat at the time they are "elected" and just become hopelessly diverted upon
reaching the hallowed halls of Congress.
Of course, that's what they want you to think.
But we continue to install the same talking heads each "election."
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Our thoughts and beliefs are modeled after partisan interests to turn us into slaves while at the same time giving us the feeling that we are in total
control of our destiny which, in essence, is the reality.
We could offer information that there is a strong possibility that the Japan earthquake may have been caused by HAARP - or even the "Comet" Elenin -
but that would be somewhat controversial - so we'll leave that for another thread - or one may find the plethora of unique threads regarding these
subjects already out there on ATS - as we're currently frying other fish here at the ranch.
It's really unfortunate that our representatives continue to make these decisions based on ignorance, indifference and/or fear - and these decisions
may very well determine our very existence as a species on this planet.
As for the sheeple - passivity only leads to absence of freedom.
It has been said that a nation of people who do not use their intelligence are no better than animals who do not have intelligence. Such people are
steaks on the table by choice and consent.
I choose not to be a steak.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
These challenges to life and sanity on this planet must be met with clear minds and sound hearts, so may your 2011 see you embracing its highest
potential and onward through the fog!
