For one, the threads you linked her to, there was really only one that was the same subject as hers and it was the one that was located in the Rant forum.

A better way to explain it to the OP would be to recap the sticky in the Rant forum.

This forum is for members to engage in heated tirades about topics that really infuriate them. It is not intended to be a place to complain or attack other members. Normal ATS/BTS terms of service rules still apply.

As this is a forum not intended to be a 'complaint' forum.

The very definition of rant though:

rant (rnt)
v. rant·ed, rant·ing, rants
v.intr.
To speak or write in an angry or violent manner; rave.
v.tr.
To utter or express with violence or extravagance

Of course will encourage people to express their emotions and let them blow off steam. A little confusing to some members I suppose.


As far as whether this thread should have been created or aborted, it probably wasn't needed. But there are many other threads out there that are of greater uselessness. Perpetuating known hoaxes or linking information that has been addressed numerous times.

Wait a minute..let me get this straight..So all you did was dig up some old threads.. Effectively making the beginning of your post "off topic"..

Ah, but the discussion is, "deny ignorance".

Someone is posting repeat threads [you] (Such as the Aspartame - Sweet Misery thread) Which you posted just yesterday....

And that same person goes into another person's thread and tells them they shouldn't make the same mistake...

I guess why Im writing this is because the site that once interested me with its intriguing Motto has come to disappoint in some aspects. If when the main Motto is ignored and instead of denying, starring and flagging ignorance is happening then I dont know if I can still think of this site as being what I thought to be when I joined. Im sorry if I offended anyone in just trying to follow the Motto. No intentions here on hurting anyones cyber feelings...

There will always be people starring and flagging sensational threads. And the threads will die out and nothing will eventually happen that was predicted in them. And the same people will go on to star the next sensational thread.

Denying ignorance is something that you have to do for yourself, by wading through all the information on the site. It also includes questioning some of the other members who post. Hence all the demands for sources. Because there is really nothing to stop anyone from posting anything, with no actual basis on reality.

- A good example is how someone came into your thread and cited t&c violations on you while the same poster did the exact same thing yesterday. It doesn't take long to figure out that these things happen

However, there are a large number of members on ATS who make very informative posts, and they spend a large portion of time providing this information. Once you are familiar with these posts you will appreciate the site more. Don't give up.

I know I havent been here very long and I am definately not trying to be some type of thread police or even think that I own the place like has been said to me. I just dont understand why when my critism is justified and not in any regard putting the OP down that other posters come to their aid,star and flag them because it seems they feel sorry for ther ignorance instead of denying them.


I can take critism myself. I take it,think about it and figure out how to use itt to fix the problem that myself have. I invite it knowing that it will only help me. But others cant in any means. That sit there and say that some who critisize are cyber stalking and makes other posters feel sorry for them so they then put the blinders up once again to pass over the ignorance.

I agree with everything you've written.
We seem to be encouraged to not participate in threads unless we are going to agree with the OP.
To disagree is to run the risk of being labled a troll.
