I don't think you can write it off as the rock quarry yet. I can't be completely sure due to the limitations of the recording device and those of
my IPad speakers, but I think we have a pretty good match here between your sound and what I've heard in Maryland and I'm not near any rock
quarries. I'm near a few small farms withmodest farming equipment and a few strip malls, and a couple of busy roads whose sounds are long familiar
and identifiable to me.
Long before this rumbling started, going back to about 2009 and off and on a few years before that, the military did indeed do some mighty strange
activity for this area. There have been times military jets have circled over my subdivision...over and over and over again for about half an hour.
Just doing donuts in the sky. Nice to know Uncle Sam can spare the money for the fuel on the taxpayer's dime like that when hardworking folks have
to scrimp and scrape for the price of the commute to their jobs...but I digress. And nice to know they don't give a crap about noise pollution over
a quiet residential area.
I've seen dark colored military helicopters buzz over my house...and yes, it was way before I was on ATS. They
were hauling butt somewhere. And one night three military jets chased a fourth with different colored lights in the skies over my home. The noise
was horrible. I actually ran out with my then toddler in my arms to see what was shaking the house. No they weren't chasing a UFO. It was all
jets, persuers had red lights, I think, and the odd man being chased had green...I think. It could have been th other way around. Odd, but probably
some sort of exercise.
So I'm no stranger to Uncle Sam's toys messing around over my neighborhood, making a racket, even though as far as I know we are not near any air
bases or on any regular flight path. But this rumble is different. I've heard it here, and one similar though not entirely identical over Myrtle
Beach. The sound is ominous. Especially if you are out in the open, like we were at the beach. Even my husband was creeped out by it and he barely
acknowledges the few rumbles he's heard here at home. (He was still at work for the loudest incident I heard of in February 8.).
When you hear it you really feel like there is some kind of ominous presence over you. Like a giant cat watching and waiting to pounce. Or a huge
mothership about to uncloak and give you the shock of your life. I'm not sure whether to be glad so many other people are hearing this or to be
scared we are reaching a tipping point to something that is about to intrude rudely on our daily lives and change everything.
