Yeah there were to be three types of new generation CVNX carrier one would be a modified nimitz class a bit bigger and the second carrier a ski jump and the last is this stealth concept carrier it holds a small amount of planes but its great for surprise attacks here are some other pics of these new carriers.

I hate it when this happens...

This CVNX design looks so familiar.

I swear I recall reading about a proposed U.S. stealth carrier variant that had the off-set flight deck, internal elevators, a "pit stop" refueling area, and a spot for rotary-winged aircraft that was out of the way of the fixed-wing line. Now that I am looking for it I can't find the article. If I am not completely mental it was a trimaran design.

I searched Popular Science as a likely source without success. Does anyone else remember it or was I dreaming?

That last one has rally bad overal length/flight deck length ratio.I really don't know why would someone build such a thing.

I believe it was in Popular Mechanics rather then Popular Science.

Oooo..... Ahhhhh..... Very nice. Its going to be very nice with the F-35. Even if you see the F-35 it would be weird as a radar officer to see an F-35 just drop out of the sky. One problem. The things going to have to be bigger probably since it probably cant hold planes out on the deck. No doubt they'll be nuclear powered. I just hope we don't see another member of the Bush family landing on one to declare the end of combat.

I though they hold most of the planes under deck and bring them up with elevators. Also this is good for the JSf since the JSF has 3D vectoring and VTOL so it wont need a long runway. And you don't have to worry about another of the bush family landing on one unless the Twins decide to run for office god help us all if that happens.

Only the Marine Corps. and the Royal Navy will be getting the short-take off and landing version. Although the USAF may take a few. The Navys version is nearly identical to the air forces except better landing gear, refueling probe, arrester hook, etc. Most planes are kept below decks but there are a lot that are kept above deck. Most are on deck during decent weather. I've seen the inside of the USS Enterprise and it can get pretty crampt in there if you place every aircraft below deck. Also keeping planes on deck shortens launch times significantly. This is nessesary for interception. Meanwhile if one of the twins go for office most likely they'll lower the drinking age to 16. Of course Bushs brother the Govoner of Flordia can still run. Noooooooooo.........

No the navy version will have longer and bigger wings to allow for a better lift the air force version will have short wings. Also I wasn't talking about our regular carriers i was talking about this new stealth carrier if it was built I think it would hold its aircraft below deck

The only thing I've heard about the naval JSF concerning wings was that there foldable. Anyhow carriers in general need to keep some aircraft above deck for most of the time. If nothings on deck than that slows down how quickly we can launch interceptors or attack aircraft. Anyhow either there going to have to reduce the amount of aircraft abord the carrier or the carriers going to have to be bigger.
