The USGS's phrase at the bottom of their logo tugs at my conspiracy strings.

science for a changing world

Now this is probably just my conspiracy juice bubbling over but, that phrase (for reasons I can't explain I just kind of felt it) rings with a very prophetic tone for me. Take this as you will, but I was perusing some of the earthquake threads and from one of the links the USGS logo just happened to jump out at me for some reason, more that phrase at the bottom.

So depending on one's perception, you could take this as to mean just the normal shifting and "changing" of the Earth's tectonic plates, all is well...or.... One could perceive this as a sort of warning and given the latest geological rocking and rolling that has been occurring over the last several months, it all but validates it for me.

To reassure you, I am aware that I could be reading entirely too much into it but it was an interesting feeling when I read that phrase in the logo. I have never given the logo one iota of my attention before this occurrence and I have been going to the USGS sites for oodles of years. So this stood out enough to me to create a topic about it.

The good part about this, is I would not feel comfortable expressing the aforementioned in the presence of any other company than with the members of this site. I know there is a better chance that at least a small percentage of people may very well agree that the phrase is suspicious and if not well that's fine too, it's an open forum.
Thank you for reading

lol when I saw the logo and phrase about 15 minutes ago or so, I had the EXACT same feeling.

Weird, eh?

I think what is strangest to me is why a geological government arm is the ones putting out the whole "arkstorm" infodramas, and not something like NOAA.

Just odd little confusions lol

Well if you feel theres something strange about it, as I do, then check out the video they just released.

I started another thread on the USGS new video about the "Ark Super Storm", it's a must see for too many reasons.

You need to take a breath, turn off your computer, read a book, watch a cartoon with the kids, maybe bake some cookies........your strings are pulled a bit too taut.
It's a changing world because the entire world is now open to you and everyone else with a computer. We no longer have to wait days to find out about a volcano belching in Micronesia....we can read all about it, even see it's heaving recorded on seismographs all over the world at near real time. And we care about it more than having it just be a two-line blurb filling unsold ad-space in a newspaper. It's also changing because we have access to more, better, and faster information to study than at any time in the world's history. There is no way at the moment to make anything more than an educated guess for predicting the very things the USGS studies. Perhaps the increase in information will change that.

Did you by any chance peruse the seismographs from around the world? They are doing things i have never seen before, especially the islands.

You're not kidding, that is some serious action. Even in places you would least expect it.

Is this a normal result of the Burmese quake?

Only if it started a domino effect. I envision islands as being perched on a shaft of land, should that shaft crumble those islands would fall into the sea and the seas would ride the mainlands,
