I have searched and even scanned the first few pages of this forum's thread, but am either not searching correctly or I am just not seeing it.

I am wondering what the "this post" feature in blue is next to the date on each post. I thought it was the way to star someone and now I have just realized that it is not. I have merrily gone along thinking that I was starring my favourite posts, but now I fear that I may have been doing something horrible to them.

If I, in fact, did do something horrible to them....mods...can you please use your mighty powers to undo it?

Thank you

I have no idea what the " This post" link is for, but out of curiosity, I clicked it. It just took me to the bottom
of your post. Maybe someone else will know what it's for.

Oh.

I think I understand what you are getting at, but not totally sure how it might work.
Here is what I think and please let me know if it is correct.

So to use it, do I then:
1) make a post, reply, whatever
2) click on the "link" button as though I was going to link to something
3) then go to the post that I am trying to link to (in another window or tab)
4) click "this post" and it inserts the linked post?

or...

I believe it is correct to say that you have to copy the URL that populates when you click "this post."

And then what I do is then paste the URL into [url= . . . ] etc.

I hit "Quote" on your post to see what the code is. Yours is easier.

But something I have found in the past is that when I have posts which populate with an URL "www.abovetopsecret.com..." - later the link goes dead for some reason.

Before the changes, clicking on 'this post' opened a new page with the post in full that could be copied/saved. That feature no longer exists?

Ok I found an opportunity to try it last night and it works great!

It is just like you said.

1) You click "this post" on the post that you want to link to
2) copy the url just like any other linked url address that you want to link
3) click the "link" button at the top of the reply post box which you are making your post or reply in
4) paste the url in as normal

and Voila! Directly to the post you want to direct people to.

I love it!
