Research Forum question

I tried to reply to a thread in the research forum and got a screen saying I do not have permission to post in that forum. Why is this? Is there a special requirement like with ATS chat?

I recently started a research project here as well btw and I've had a ton of PM's from people asking me why they cannot post to it, so I thought I'd post here and tell you what I told them...

As far as I'm aware all you need to post here is Scholar status (To post to the debate and writing forums you need a separate status also I believe) - something that be acquired by a moderator (I believe ADVISOR is the mod for this forum.)

There is also writer and fighter status - similar rules apply.

For instance for the writer title, you must post stories, short or long in the appropriate forum - masqua used to do this, not sure if he still does.

For fighter you must take part in formal debates - I'm not sure who is in charge of this now, although if you send a u2u to Semperfortis I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

There are many facets of ATS which remain undiscovered to the casual user, but all worth the time and energy if you can spare it

Oh, man - the debates are SO much fun.

I would encourage you to give them a go - they are interesting, educational, and occasionally funny.

I did pretty bad in my last debate.

...But, I had fun doing it!

Seriously, the debates really are a feature of ATS you ought to check out at some point. And as budski mentioned, you can learn a lot from them and they can be funny at times too. Well worth it.

Plus there are tournaments which pop up from time to time which you can sign up to as well.
