Hey people I finally got 200 posts and when I tried chat at my friends house it worked but when I got home nothing comes up in the chat window on my computer. Just a big gray window. any tips on how to fix this?

Sorry. I don't know what causes it, but I have the same problem. The first few times I got onto the chat, it worked fine. Now it tells me it's unable to connect. Both of those were on my 1 computer.

Another thing though. I don't know if you can change it now or not, but you would probly have better luck at getting a mod to help you, if this was in a different forum.

Log out on the other computer. That will fix the problem.

try logging out, clearing cookies and logging back in.
What does the chat use by the way? Flash? Java? Find out what it uses and make sure you have it installed.

I had the same problem, are you using Firefox by any chance? Chat won't work for me in Firefox, but works fine in Google Chrome. Try another browser. Hope you get some joy!

All firefox users have this problem.
If you click the first time and then accept the terms and conditions, then close the window and click again and wait for a while (could be quite a long while) it works.
Or just click, wait, click, wait, click etc etc etc etc

I always have to right click and reload the page to get in when the gray screen shows.

I found by simply trying IE as opposed to FF works pretty well. Haven't tried chrome in a long time, but that may do the trick as well. A lot easier than monkeying around in FF.

IE doesn't seem to do spell check in chat though
Trying to understand my disjointed, semi literate ramblings without a spell checker is a difficult task for anyone

from the chat once i finally got in with FF:

3:34 Time2Think: because on the forums if you type "_javascript" it automatically places a "_" (undescore) in front of the string... and if you click on chat, then accept terms, then sit and wait (nothing happens)... then close and reopen it, it works.

I'll try that idea maybe next time I go on chat. I think Fire Fox is better than internet explorer because of the spell check and the other addons you can get for it. internet explorer is just to plain for me. that's why I run Fire Fox for threading and internet explorer for the chat.

funny that one requires 200 posts to log into an area that initially is for rational thinking requiring like minded people. I would rather see a personal invite rather than requiring forceful posts for simple access, then again life has multiple avenues, its all a matter of perception.
