The USA is supposed to release classified information 50 years after been made top-secret, but seeing as the public has no actual knowledge of
specific documents which have been kept secret, they have no reason to release them.
Its easy for the public to make an FOIA request for information pertaining to a certain event but if the agency they contacted has no record of the
information requested, it may be because it was destroyed and the FOIA Officer is telling the truth when he/she says "I have no idea!"
Whichever ultra-secretive party has such information could simply scan the documents, images, etc. and then destroy the originals... keeping the
copies on a closely-guarded computer system or removable media.
