Whats happened to ATS?

There used to be a time, when ATS was devoted to "real" conspiracy theory and the likes. When I joined in 2008, ATS was "the" site for learning, researching and sharing information that MSM and the Gov't's don't want us to know about.

Any more, it seems people are posting about zombies, vampires, werewolves, and all things fictional. This is not a Sci-Fi fan site. When did ATS turn in to this? What happened to the reasons ATS became the top site for conspiracy theories?

Instead, we have threads making claims with absolutely no sources, or with sources proven to be bogus or just plain fantasy posts. And for the most part, the Mod staff allows all this!

I miss the ATS of yesterday. And I have this putrid gut feeling, that we will never see ATS as it once was.

I'll tell you what happened, we've become so fed up with it that we simply can't follow the T&C in our responses, allowing THEM to win.

I ask for proof I'm a troll.
I mention anything related to science I'm a disinfo agent
I disagree with any half thought out theory, I'm closed minded.

It's sad but I for one am not letting them win. Keep posting BS, I'll keep calling it as such.

I do the same and without the effort of being too nice about it. It sickens me that the Mods have allowed this site to become a repository for the ridiculous and fictional. I often find myself questioning my own patron-ism of ATS any more. I don't even bother with checking the Recent Threads section, because most of the time its full of topics taken from the likes of Bram Stoker, rather than discussions about top secret divisions of the US Gov't or the latest gaff of an elected official discovered by true conspiracy theorists.

Completely agree! And not only do I feel that ATS has strayed from it's roots..I feel the staff has also,

For example in a single week alone, I have had more posts removed for the most ridiculous reasons...My favorite being excessive quoting.. All I did was quote the person I was responding too..

Seems like the mod's are all to eager to Jump on every post lately..And when you try to debate it with them they come after you with the "I advise you to watch your tone line". Last time I got into a debate with a mod, and they used that line on me..I said "oh please give me a break.."

Sorry to go off on your thread..But i needed to get that rant out. Thanks!

i found this place in 08 but joined today. some things here are hard to disprove or argue. most is going to be crap. nature of the beast and such. i see this place as a room to find goodly people who have hard ideas that get swiped away in real life. out of the, however many we are, actually have seen ufo's,ghosts,aliens,speaking holes in the ground, etc? i havent. you?
i think its and advertising thing. with ATS agents so dillagent there's little new info to be had. im not a usa citizen but didnt obamee start free health care recently?

I agree with you.

People are making this place look like the national enquirer.
The celebrity worship has really gone off the deep end as well.
Alot of time newer members post for the sake of posting and adding nothing worthy of a contribution.
I have also noticed the amount of people attempting to swear alot in their posts rather then filter their foul language.

I still love this place but some threads are starting to remind me of youtubes comment section.

This question is to any mod that want's to answer..Why should I pledge my allegiance to a site that's very slogan to "deny ignorance" is abused by it's own staff ?

....and threads that have to do with dolphins and whales causing the earthquakes cause they are mad at the way they have been treated shoot up to the top of the site and stay there all day.

Unfortunately, ATS has become just another GLP/BeforeIt'sNews type website. Where anything goes!

The Recent Topic Firehose has just become my best friend on this site. Most good posts get "flooded with a tsunami" of duplicates and junk posts, which instantly shoots them off the front page.

You wanna find what ATS is all about, then you have to dig through loads of B.S. to find out.

I'm with you on this one Op. ATS has become a playground instead of a library.

The staff run the site very well and I have never had the problems you have.
Hmmmmm think about that.

I am new here as a member but have been a guest for quite sometime and i like all the info that pertains to the site. The ats motto is deny ignorance so with that you should keep an open mind on even the most asinine threads. If you have been here so long you should be able to spot the threads you deem useless with out even opening them or giving them the time of day. This very thread is exactly that, a waste.

As i stated before i am new but i can spot an intelligent poster by there means to display said info with a some what relevant source and keep a "cool" when someone hi jacks a thread or simply starts a back and forth disagreement that only furthers to ruin the thread at hand. I applaud any who will keep on keeping on regardless of trolls or dis info agents or what have you. This site is only going to continue to grow as more people seek out alternative means to get information and we should all realize this. Some will be educated others will not but its the fact there here that should count. Just my 2 cents

- Everything changes over time, If things didn't change they would not be able to grow
- So why limit the subjects of discussion?
- Can you not just steer clear of the forum's that don't interest you?
- If you truly think ATS is bad why are you still here?
- Why not do something about it? (Be the change you seek) Show us a new conspiracy
- What if there isn't any new conspiracies or evidence to talk about?
- What about if the nature of how conspiracies are executed have changed?

No you are wrong.. it's not the members..It is the overly stressed out staff dealing with the constant trolling, And new members that don't have a clue..And then they take it out on the..Growingly impatient members that have been loyal, and stuck by the site for this long..

All you can really do is make sure that you are a positive contributor. Give us some interesting threads to wash away some of the crap.

You do realize Mods are volunteering to do this? (as in, for free?)

If it is me..Then why am I not the only member with this complaint? I have heard this from much older members then you my friend..

Also I don't see how clicking a button (the quote button) justifies removing a post for "excessive quoting" I mean the button is there if you want to quote what someone said so you can respond to them..

If quoting is against the T&C then why have the button in the first place.?

Also, I use to agree with the T&C and stood by every move the staff made.. Until I started seeing the T&C brought into every single debate..it has got to the point that you almost don't want to disagree with anyone..As, your post may be considered "off-topic" and removed.
