Two former high-ranking members of the Oakland County Democratic Party are facing various election corruption charges in a bogus tea party scheme. 23 questionable election filings across Michigan involved an effort to create the illusion of an Independent Tea Party and its candidates on November's ballot. The goal was to woo away voters in local elections who might otherwise vote for other candidates, presumably Republicans, authorities allege.

These dems are so desperate to get elected that they created a fake Tea Party candidate to put on the ballot to take votes away from the real Republican candidate so they could win the election.

Here's a novel idea for these guys. Maybe they should worry about the actual issues that the people care about instead of rigging elections. What a bunch of tools.

Hmmm. I just wonder why we arent seeing anything about Republicans pretending to BE tea Party members to take advantage of the growing public distrust for the two party system.

The Republican party effectively just rebranded themself as the tea party, since their lies about what they stand for were close to what the tea partiers actually want.

The voters just need to face facts.

If you are seeing ads for someone on TV, odds are, that candidate is bought and paid for. We either need to come up with a system that allows non-corporate sponsored candidates to make it on television, or we need to ignore television advertising altogether. Citizens United vs FEC has ensured that corporations will OWN campaign advertising, and thus, own our government.

I was part of the tea party in the beginning, I dropped that crap the first time they had palin speak. I knew it was hijacked at that point, so obvious. Screw both the democraps and the republicrats. Both sham parties, both need to be destroyed.

You are right. The tea party movement was hijacked by the Republican party. That is not what it was supposed to be about. It was supposed to be about government for the people not for corporate lobbyists or the estabished two party political machine in Washington.

If found guilty I would hope that their intolerable behavior will be made an example to both dems and pubs across the nation.

But more to the point on the future of Michigan's politics and sovereignty. If you live in Michigan it is coming to light that you may have much much more to be concerned about then these two fellows

I also really admired the movement in the beginning. But the Republicans infiltrated it so quickly that it wasnt even funny.

But thats something we as voters need to be aware of. No matter what alternative we come up with to the two party corporate system, they will infiltrate it. Just like they come on boards like this and pretend to be "us" to influence "us." They have figured out that the easiest way to manipulate us is to pretend to be what we want.

We need to become more clever, more observant, and we need to get a Constitutional Amendment passed that locks big money out of our electoral process. It needs to be simple, and clear, and it needs to be written in such a way that money cannot buy politics or air time. Period.

If we dont do that, we are fighting a losing battle.

This is a clear ilustration of the democrat "message".

They ain't got none.

They will lie, cheat, obfuscate, but NEVER, EVER tell the truth of their own agenda.

Im sorry, if you are still sucked into the two party lie, I really cant have much respect for your intelligence, or place much stock in your political commentary. Even the most diehard partisan has got to be seeing a pattern at this point.
