With the huge gush of Japan Disaster threads, and seeing how this is turning out as big as Chernobyl, BP Disaster, 9-11....

I think it deserves its own forum. Starting one now could relieve the MODS later, this is only the beginning of this disaster and the discussions and conspiracy theories tied to it.

Lets put all the threads into a new Japan Disaster Forum.

What say you?

Well the BP thing did get it's own forum.

Lets not let this place be entirely US-centric

Great idea. Especially considering that this will more than likely be a long term issue.

Did the spill really have its own forum? I wasn't around then so I wouldn't know
. I wasn't trying to be US-centric, just would think a sub-forum of a disaster category would be a better idea, but if the spill got its own, then I guess this deserves its own too.

Yeah man, it's still there. it's call the Deepwater Disaster Forum. Bit quiet these days since it all......evaporated!!

I know you weren't being US centric, just when we have a thing now that has global ramifications Precedent has been set!!
So would be a shame to miss something out, just because it doesn't directly affect the US, y'know!??

I think that is a very good idea. Having a difficult time keeping
up with the individual threads and the latest news
would go right to the forum.

If we start creating new forums for every natural disaster/catastrophy
by 2013 we are not going to be able to navigate this website at all.

I agree also after seeing that they just pulled the workers out. There is going to be some more major things happening here.

Aye! This is obviously going to be a far-reaching, long-term global concern. Especially due to the latest developments concerning the apparent inability to contain the radioactive chain of events.

I agree

It's got enough topics, it's a serious issue.

It needs it's own board.

This disaster definitely needs its own forum because the implications are going to be global, environmentally, economically and spiritually.

Sadly this disaster is just the beginning.

Would love to hear what the Mods, Super-Mods, Admins... etc think about this.

There must be challenges and difficulty to do this that we ATS members do not know. But wouldnt it be better to create one now, because later it will be exponentially more challenging to corral all the threads.

I Dont suggest every disaster get its own thread. But when a event has so many topics withing itself, so many conspiracies... Such as the BP disaster, Katrina, 9-11....

This event will be evolving and creating new stories for the next year at least if not more. I dont think that is a sensational argument.

We now have a forum dedicated to the crisis in Japan.

Looks like you're not alone in thinking this is a good idea.

P.S. I'm going to go ahead and close this thread since it has now been established that it is, indeed, time for a Japan disaster forum. But if anyone has any further comments on the issue, they are of course welcome in the thread linked above.
