Ok, I've read a lot of theories and I've decided to make a more detailed theory, please feel free to fill blanks or correct me if you think I said something stupid, etc.

A couple billion years ago, there was a civilization on a recently formed planetary system, this civilization had greatly advanced in technology during the last couple of centuries to the point of achieving fast interplanetary travel, they had everything, but they needed more, so they decided to investigate for life in other systems, but they found nothing. So they decided to create life in a habitable planet, they chose earth.

They traveled here and placed the first microorganisms on earth, enough to create a chain reaction capable of populating the hole planet, but none of the life forms had developed intelligence, so they waited a couple hundred millions of years and saw that many species had the potential to evolve into intelligent lifeforms, they kept an eye on earth.

When they finally saw that one species had finally made the first tools, so they increased their attention on the early homo habilis, this animal evolved to become a relatively smart species, capable of building small structures, there was when their God complex started, they decided to come here as gods and help us build incredible structures in their honor, they had their own little ant farm.

But time passed and we became more aware of ourselves, we developed our own religions, religions that would favor a few humans instead of them, we started developing better and better technology to the point of forgetting our past, so instead of trying to be our gods, they changed their approach, we became a touristic attraction, their own planetary safari.

It wasn't until a few decades ago when we realized something was not right, that we were not alone, and our ever growing presence in this planet made it even more obvious, strange objects have been seen around the world and have started abducting us for scientific proposes, so they can see how our bodies evolve with the new technologies and all that stuff.

So, what do you think?

If they had the patience to wait a couple billion years for sorta intelligent life to show up I can't see them interfering at that point.

Think about things this way.....We thought the world was flat just a few hundred years ago, Now we know it is round. What will our grandchildren know and laugh at us for not knowing? So much is beyond our comprehension.

I watched The Fourth Kind last night. A quote from the movie made me think. "So do these beings really believe they are God? No, but they can pretend to be." Even if ETs put us here, what created them?

Completely agree, we can't even assure that physics are true. Future will come and we will notice our ignorance.

Good theory. But let me ask you this: what are the aliens up to right now? Are they in cahoots with the government and are malevolent ET's fighting benign ones for control of man?

a·li·en adj.
1. Owing political allegiance to another country or government; foreign: alien residents.
2. Belonging to, characteristic of, or constituting another and very different place, society, or person; strange. See Synonyms at foreign.
3. Dissimilar, inconsistent, or opposed, as in nature: emotions alien to her temperament.

Anything not from here would be considered alien. Every theory held in high regard by religions and atheists will land you at the same conclusion. Words are man made.

My theory is that the aliens have been trying to play with us like ants, similar to your theory, however, at the core, they are also trying to find God.
