The sun is continuing it's highly energetic state, and discharging almost continuous flares. The BIG spot is facing us, and more large ones appear to be approaching.

BIG SUNSPOTS: The sunspot number soared this weekend when sunspot 652 and its companion 'spot 653 emerged over the sun's eastern limb. Sunspot 652 is big, about the size of the planet Jupiter, and easily seen from Earth. Warning: Don't look directly at the sun! Try these safe solar observing techniques.
