Hello Gray Area.

I must admit, I've been looking for a place like this for quite some time now. You truly are a sui generis on this version of the Internet, and for that you have my compliments.

I came to this reality thinking it would be a better place than what I was leaving. A place where a virus killed most of the female population and you can imagine what men do without them. You can imagine that someone has to be that woman, just like it sporadically happens in the prison system. A world devastated by human greed, led to a dystopia but you would not know it just by looking at the surface.

I came from my California to this California. You see, your sci-fi shows often forget about linguistic aspects when they want to talk about other worlds. They are too shallow and this is why I never watch them.

The problem with this world is simple. You say you want proof, but have you ever asked yourselves: what IS proof to you? Think about it. The definition has to be provided; otherwise, it is all haphazard, leading nowhere.

I do not expect to be here for long, but you can contact me here or via what you call u2u if you wish.

I wish you luck. You will need it.

Lateral Concomitance is the key. Remember.

Yawn

You basically start a thread with a ridiculous claim, even put a couple of lines in to dissuade anyone from expecting anything that resembles evidence.

Fail.

Greetings, I am a member of the Space Goats from the Alpha Centauri system in the 9th Universe, 18th dimension, 36th existential construct. I would like for us to meet and exchange what these "people" call "thoughts" although in my reality is akin to their sexual intercourse.

I look forward to meeting you young skywalker.

You'd be infected with that virus as a carrier. It's on you, it's on your clothes and more importantly, it's on your Money, which, besides human to human contact, is how that virus was spread.

Thanx for infecting yet another world. Really now, I am so tired of you people running from your pandemic disasters and infecting other worlds with diseases that your civilization developed without a corresponding cure. Just what I wanted to see yet again, another world with 90% fatalities inflicted from someone who managed to find a way to an alternate.

Greetings fellow traveler. I too have traveled far from alternate dimensions. You see, my world was a horrible place before I build the inter-dimensional teleporter device I used to arrive here. My old world was a place with some ignorant people who thought that "proof" was undefined, and who thought everyone was gullible enough to believe things with no evidence, and where... Oh wait...

Hello again manyworlds. We met on your introduction post. Remember? As some folk here are wondering why so many new posters are posting foolishness and incoherent gibberish of late or just making short noncommittal comments in existing threads, I thought I would greet you again. When I saw your second post I read it to find what this entity from another universe had to say in his/ her second post. But I also wondered how this entity had begun posting original threads so quickly without having the requested 20 replies first.

So I checked out your reply list under you profile and guess what. You had the 20 replies but all your replies were noncommittal sentences of four or five words.

Well manyworlds. There are ways to be heard here at ATS but sneaking around in the background saying nothing to draw attention to yourself until you begin making your proclamations is not one of them. I know you are from another universe so I will not bring out my Rockblaster yet.(remember?)

So for your future success at bringing the message of your doomed universe to this world I hope you keep in mind that the people of THIS universe don't take kindly to being messed with by someone from another universe.

So with that said I want to welcome you once more , dear friend from another universe.

This thread is utterly obvious BS, especially compared to the one closed to redirect to this. This is uninteresting drivel derived from science fiction written by, as the poster before me pointed out, someone who has not established any kind of identity here. (Edit: Who apparently made the other thread too. Isn't that just delightfully annoying?) But I just typed up this long story about my possible but unlikely encounters with parallel universes in a thread actually looking for people who have suspected encounters with parallel universes, so I'm posting it here.

I am a serious skeptic. The kind who gives credence to things until they're proved impossible, which is why, even though it sounded like complete BS, I was a heavy defender back during the "Australia has moved" debacle.

But I honestly think this has been happening to me lately. It could just be, and in all truthfulness probably is, memory glitches, but the sensation that the things I am remembering are the true things while the things that are actual don't fit is just so very strong.

I actually cannot recall most of them over the last few days. Maybe a compensation thing, or maybe just me getting over myself. I'm not sure. Probably just another sign of my memory not being that good, heh. But again, the sensation is so strong, and I never "stick to my guns" on crazy stuff like this.

The big one that sticks in my memory -- because I discussed it with two people at once, I think -- is actually a really very tiny thing. I recently hooked up with a new girlfriend, who I am absolutely wild about. I was telling her about a trio of animes (yeah, shuddup) that she ought to watch. A couple of them are really good in the dub, but one of them absolutley must be watched in the sub because half the voices sound like they're done by a half-asleep Michael Jackson impersonator. She shrugged and told me that she didn't like watching things with subtitles. Not because she didn't like to read, but because it distracts from what's actually going on in the show/movie. I nodded, understanding, and insisted that she still had to watch Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Cut forward a couple weeks, when we're talking about anime again with my roommate. I bring up subtitles again, and say something like "I know you prefer not to, but..." and she just looks at me. She has no idea what I'm talking about; she never said anything along those lines. But the memory of the conversation was so vivid -- I don't remember her precise words, but I remember her kind of half-sarcastically groaning about the subtitles, about me telling her that it made sense --- it's all right there in my memory! Vivid, real.

I've encountered this a number of other times, but none of them stick out quite as much. It's always just little details like that, but ones which you would be hard-pressed to get that wrong.

Again, it's most likely just memory glitches and misunderstandings... but I really, really feel like it's not.

I also joke a lot that there are versions of myself from alternate universes wandering around town, because people keep saying that they saw me where I wasn't, but that's pure joking. ... I hope, hehe!

Sorry....looks like someone was watching an old, cancelled TV show:

Stealing from a mediocre (at best) and very well-worn, well-used science fiction concept?? Priceless...

Maybe she realised afterwards how annoying people who say 'I don't like anything with subtitles' are afterwards
. That sounds interesting though, what other examples are there? Did she seem 100% sincere? I too am a skeptic, I only wish I could experience something totally unexplainable via science. Sure meditation kind of touches that ground, but not really.. Anyway, let's hope she was just fooling around! Otherwise, keep an eye on it dude.

Hehehe, I wondered about that, too! But she did seem totally sincere about it. It was very weird.

I can't remember any of the actual ones, which is really shooting my credibility right through the roof. There's one involving my boss that I just cannot put my finger on... Guhbluh. But the other day I did a full day's work and came home... satisfied.

DUN DUN DUN!

As for you,

What is your original reality's version of reality? If you've got no women, is everyone in your reality a homosexual? How did you get from your reality to this one? What is the point of telling us to remember a vague statement like 'Lateral Concomitance is the key' - what does that mean?

You do realise why this reads off as a sci-fi, don't you? You claim that use of linguistics is so different - your vocab and typing manner seems exactly the same as everyone else here. That and:

'A world devastated by human greed, led to a dystopia but you would not know it just by looking at the surface.'

Beginning with 'a world devastated by human greed' is not a good start if you're trying to be taken seriously. Sounds like the start of a tacky sci-fi B movie.. Oh and neither does referring to your world as a 'dystopia but you wouldn't know it just by looking at the surface' - same thing.

Finally, you say you won't be here for long.. Assuming you are a heterosexual, why would you want to return to a world that has been devastated by human greed and has no women?! Damn dude.. Even if this isn't a hoax, your world isn't very clever is it?

I've already assumed that this is a weak hoax, try convincing everyone else that it isn't if you'd like. But don't pull the 'don't believe me then, you don't deserve the truth, I don't care, it's your loss' approach, because no one has time for that and you won't get any attention.

Also, let's address your "proof" thing.

Proof: A fact or group of facts, verifiable by observation; or an object or a group of objects, shown to be extant, which lead to the conclusion that the claimed thing is true.
See also: Evidence, Logic, Reason, Not Making Excrement Up

Wow, that sure was easy.

For your situation, let's go with... A history book from your world, maybe? A law book? Maybe some completely random numbers representing your quantum flux signature capacitor rate?

I loled
, have a star. Maybe your mind has made a significant error...

Maybe your boss... is your girlfriend!

...And your girlfriend is your boss! Well, that one wouldn't exactly be a first.

How is anyone in that reality going to procreate to keep the population going? No women... No babies... unless men there can now become pregnant. In wich case, the population will still fail once a few of you give birth.

Please explain. Thanks.

It's interesting that you mention proof. Logic was manufactured by humans and since our minds automatically arrange everything into neat little boxes, we say we understand things but do we really? Our scientific "Facts" are nothing more than well thought-out theories. Reality is whatever you want it to be, so instead of asking for proof we should just accept the world as it is.

Your post is very sincere and I've had a few "bizarre" experiences with alternate realities, so I'm inclined to believe you. As soon as I've reached the "20 Replies" mark, I'll probably PM you about this because you seem interesting.

By the way, you shouldn't go around saying you're from an alternate reality. Even on the psycho-forum, most are inclined to demand proof or call you a fake. Just a fair warning.

I do wish our members could refrain from commentary on posts they are disinclined to believe. There is no obligation to insult others in a vain attempt make yourself look clever. Why deliberately try make others feel bad? If you fail to grasp what is being said, perhaps you could follow the dialogue further or try to look for your missing knowledge elsewhere rather than displaying to the rest of us.

many, I have sent you a u2u. I look forward to your response. There is so much I would like to ask, if you have the time. Here is sending you my gratitude to you in advance.

What you just said is "Boy, I wish our members wouldn't look at outlandish claims with a critical eye. It sure would be terrible if we didn't believe every single thing we ever heard."

Hey, I was nice! I asked questions and I offered constructive advice before stating my own initial conclusion on the matter. If the OP is serious about this, they can answer these questions rather than disregard anyone who disbelieves them.

The whole point of a forum is that anyone can post on anything, regardless of their viewpoint. If no one ever questioned these things, ATS would eventually decay into a podium for whackjobs and hoaxers to run amock saying 'my dadi is frumm marz and mumi is from venuz' or 'I AM A HORSE DAT CAN TYPE LULZ' and these posts will just bury the sincere ones to a point where serious members lose interest. As long as it's not malicious, critical questioning is fine. It is, in fact, a necessity.
