US Border Town Mayor, Police Chief Arrested on Drug Charges

Details are just starting to trickle in but...
The Albuquerque Journal is reporting

Federal officials arrested the Columbus mayor, police chief and one village trustee in an early morning round-up targeting 11 people Thursday, said Luna County Sheriff Raymond Cobos, whose department was not involved in the arrests.
Cobos said the arrests were based on weapons and drug charges.
Columbus Mayor Eddie Espinoza has been in office for five years.

The arrests were carried out by a combination of agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Bureaur of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the U.S. Marshal's Service

We hear very little about New Mexico and the Mexican drug war but it wouldn't surprise me one little bit if these good ole boys aren't in someones pocket

This is just the tip of the iceberg,In Arizona ,back in the 80's was a major problem with corrupted officers...In the USA SIDE.The long arm of the drug cartels,and smugglers.This kind of news NEVER make the Headlines.U have to find out by reading other media like Selections of the Readers Digest.

Well not all cops, just the corrupted ones. It's stories like these that make people suspicious of the police which is a damn shame cause.. you get some really good cops out there.

I hate these drug cartels. They seems to spreading their poison right over border. They've destroyed Mexico... practically turned it into a war zone and now they seem to be reaching over to the USA.

They've gotta come down harder on these guys.
