This is a review of what supposedly happened on December 29, 1980 when a diamond shaped UFO was seen by two woman and a young boy. After seeing the UFO for approximately 20 minutes, the UFO was then chased or escorted (all depends on how you look at the story) by 23 Chinook helicopters which were US military based aircraft. All three witnesses developed radiation type health problems from this incident and the US government has denied vigorously any claims that it was a secret test from the military. To date, the case remains unsolved and stands out as one of the best UFO encounters of all time

Why in Heaven's name would you say "aliens"??? Do you believe most aliens ask for a Chinook helicopter escort? This is a very famous case. Whole books have been written about it, plus numerous videos and TV shows, including this book and this book and this article with references. The consensus seems to be that this was a secret government craft. The prospect of this being a craft piloted by aliens has never been at the forefront of this case. UFO: Yes; Aliens: No.

It is a big question whether the case is unsolved regardless of whose craft it was. Walt Andress told me once in private, after he gave a lecture to a small group in Austin, that the craft was one of our secret devices being tested. It was having problems and caused the additioinal problems for the witnesses. He said it was being tested from a aircraft carrier in the gulf of Mexico. MUFON did a lot of examining of that incident, I would think that its top people (Andress) would know the truth of the incident. That is not to say that MUFON is trustworthy in every case, it is not.

I've always found the legal aspect of this case very interesting.Their lawyer Peter Gersten did his best fighting a losing battle until the case was dismissed in August 1986.
Principal investigator John Schuessler noted that hardly any attention was paid to the twenty three helicopters (also seen by additional witnesses).
Judge Ross Sterling considered expert testimony to be sufficient reason to dismiss the case.

Radiation problems from an Alien craft. I highly doubt any Alien craft would be emitting radiation unless it was on purpose. An alien craft would have the bugs worked out before they flew to our planet lol.

I would lean more towards a nuclear powered test craft for the US military having issues leaking out radiation.

This was always one of my favorite UFO cases because it seems to have some of the strongest evidence. The shape of the craft always intrigued me, too. It just seems so strange. If it was some kind of military craft, I'd love to actually see it (photos would suffice, don't want to get close to it, haha).

I still have to wonder why the US is losing the war in the Middle East if we really have stuff like this. Do we not take the war seriously? Are we waiting for a real world war to unveil all of these super secret, unconventional vehicles?

So let me get this right, the war machine went into Iraq to stop Saddam Hussains plot to use Weapons of Mass destruction. There are no weapons of mass destruction but a whole load of controversy. The war machined killed innocents which doesn't matter it is just collateral damage. You help al-Qaeda recruit more people with the following actions above. Now you want to irradiate them lol

The reason the war will not be won is because the enemy is using guerilla warfare tactics and ignoring all conventional rules of engagement. You would have to wipe out innocent people along with the soliders and thats not acceptable. So they are engaging in a diff type of warfare, one which involves helping communities etc. But sometimes just your mere presence is a propoganda nightmare, the oppositon can use this as a tool to get more recruits.

I've always liked this case.

In my opinion what was witnessed was a damaged extraterrestrial vehicle and a military operation sent out to capture it. Its as legitimate a theory as any others.

That's a big mystery to me as well. I can understand if this experimental craft didn't go anywhere, but if we have such advanced capabilities in this area what good are they if you cannot gain a tactical advantage with them? Is it a matter that these conventional wars of ours are not really crucial or important enough to haul out the good stuff? Well, what would constitute crucial enough? Would North Korea and Iran throwing around nukes be crucial enough? Russia and China? If we've spent these trillions of black budget dollars on exotioc stuff, it would seem there must be a point at which such expenditures must be justified. And also, we'd have to have squadrons of whatever we have that are deployable, not jsut a couple of saucers hidden in a hanger in the desert somewhere.

That begs the question of whether we should engage in Iraq, etc., of course, but whether we should is not a part of this discussion.

From what I remember on the old UFO cover-up special they did way back, the individuals named Falcon and Condor mentioned that it was infact an alien craft being piloted by human military personal and that the pilots encountered some serious issues while doing so... hence the radiation, noise and heli escort.

The problem is from what ive read years latter, the word of Falcon and Condor is not to be trusted in the least or any of the Aviary bunch. Then again it could be the only thing those two people have ever said that could have some actual truth behind it. It was either a lucky guess or some truth thrown into a bunch of blatant misinformation (Strawberry Icecream
).

And this is one of the cases I like too. Something most definitely happened just as the witnesses described it, and people in high places refuse to acknowledge it... cant get any more authentic and proof of something shady going on than that.

Thing is if they had this thing (alien or man made) 30 years ago, wonder where the techs advanced to now... maybe it was a proto TR-3B?
